My tongue gets trapped between my top and bottom teeth as if I'm biting my tongue. I can barely get my tongue into his mouth anymore and when I do, my tongue gets trapped and I bite my tongue. I don't know what went wrong. Are my top and bottom teeth too close together, cause my tongue to get trapped between them? What do I tell the ortho? I can't get my tongue past my teeth without my tongue touching top and bottom teeth. And when I move my tongue back, it gets trapped again.

I agree. If you can eat food your tongue should have plenty of room.
Wanted to add...my mouth is tiny, my fist will only fit halfway in, and i still have no problem kissing. :D

Is your tongue supposed to have contact with the back of your bottom teeth when your mouth is closed?

No with the roof of your mouth and the back of upper teeth. Try dropping your lower jaw when kissing :D

When my mouth is closed, the top of my tongue is touching the roof of my mouth, and the tip (front edge) is sitting on the back/tips of my lower front teeth.
Braces: Metal fixed upper and lower
Estimated treatment time: 18-24 months
Braces Removed: August 2013 (after 33 months in braces)
Retainers: Upper & lower essix and lower bonded

It's like my tongue is also now too short to shoot past my top and bottom teeth. When I stick it out, it barely goes past my teeth then gets trapped. What kind of problem does this sound like? Bite slightly deep? I do remember my ortho wanting to create more space in my mouth by lowering some of my teeth.

I think is a matter of getting used to your new bite. I guess you just have to keep practicing. You will be fine.

Thanks for the responses everyone. My teeth automatically cage my tongue in and clasp it when I try to stick it out and move it. I'm just hoping it can be fixed.
