Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
My d-day is looming....couple more visits my ortho said. I started my current job about a month into Braces so people there dont know me any other way! Weirdly I'm dreading the comments about not having them......just like I dreaded the comments about having them with my other friends/family/previous colleagues! Weird! But will probably get used to having naked teeth again quicker than I got used to braced teeth
So...I probably wont miss them....or at least I'll get over it!

I don't think I will, I can go back to my snacking ways and not stress all the time with food caught in my teeth everywhere.. also, it'll be so nice to get back to eating normally.
Lookin' forward to the removable retainers!

Will I miss them?...absolutely not! I just asked my ortho how much longer they will be on and he said 8 months...OMG depressed the whole day!

Aside from the food getting stuck in them and having to worry about popping brackets, I like mine too. If I want to keep them on longer than I need to, then I will! It's freakin' weird, girls seem to like them! And I think they're cool looking.

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY !!!!! LOL
I am used to them after 394 days but if you said I could get them off tomorrow I would be thrilled. I think I have been a bit depressed having them and insecure. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the results and do not regret the $7K or the way my teeth look, I just can't wait to eat normally again and feel more secure. I think this has been a great experience to realize I am more than a smile but I will not be missing my grill at all. And I am not a patient person, the time has gone by really fast but I am counting down the days anywhere from about 155 -300 more to go.

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
I'm getting mine on in a few weeks and I don't expect to ever miss them. I have extractions to go through yet before they're put on, too!
I expect the first few weeks will be tough trying to adjust, after which I'll probably just enjoy the fact my teeth are slowly moving, and then becoming really excited to see progress. But, like ashesgap, I expect after 6 months it'll probably just get old for me, and I'll just want them off. It's horrible to think, at that stage, I'll only be 1/4 of the way through the course...
I also don't think they'll help my self confidence much while I have them on. I'll always be concious of what people think when I talk or smile.
So, no, I don't expect I'll ever miss them, haha! But I'll definitely be glad to have had them when my teeth are perfectly straight :D

Robot Teeth I couldn't have said it better myself. The one part I don't enjoy is food getting stuck and worrying about breaking something. But other than that they're awesome! They make teeth perfect, look cool, have fun colours, the orthodontist and her staff are amazing, what more could I say, ya know?

It’s hard to say. Got a few brackets on my teeth and will get the rest on Friday, and I got this love-hate relationship with them. Don’t know how it will be when I get fully braced. I might hate them, I might love them
I’m probably going to miss my ortho though because he’s fantastic

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
Hey Ebony,
Congrats again on going thru the process of getting braces on. Getting full braces isnt any weirder than just brackets. I had my wires out for three hours the other day to go see the Dentist for a cleaning (Yuck as in going to the general dentist, although I like the dentist more than the assistant people they mainly scare me). I think there being no wires is much weirder feeling than having the full brackeets with wires. After a few days of hating it I got over it and now I love the braces so much. Ya know to know what they will be doing to my teeth and the cool colours and such.
I agree with you about missing the orthodontist. I LOVE going to my orthodontist. I am actually pretty said I go every 2-3 months I wanna go MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made a joke the last time I went to the orthodontist saying "I'm on the countdown: 4 months down, 5 years to go." And she said "I'm gonna be reitred by then." And that really made me sad because she's literally the BEST and I'm going to miss going. I'm kinda jealous at all her other patients being 4+ years going to see her. I don't know if she was serious she is ONLY 52 and usually dentists retire at 80 or older where I am from.

I can't wait to have them off.
The pain hasn't been that bad, I never need wax and cleaning is a hassle but I don't mind. However, I don't I feel or look better (or interesting, lovely, cute, smart or whatever other positive thing) with braces on, specially as an adult. Is like missing a splinter or a cast after getting a broken bone. No way.

i'll never miss having braces.
it is a subtle form of torture.
and i'm always mind boggled when i hear people say they don't even notice their braces or they're use to them. They're always there mess with you, when you talk, when brush, when you eat, when you look at the mirror, they are a complete hindrance

Wow I feel sorry for you! I love my braces!
Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
Whatever floats your boat!!! I love what they're doing to tidy up my ugly teeth but will not be sorry to see the back of them. While I've got used to the feel of them, I can't stand the fact it takes me 10 times as long to clean my teeth, am sick of worrying about food being stuck in them when I eat in public, can't stand the way they look and can't believe I've got another 18 months to get through... sorry, went off into a rant!
