Should you try to wean yourself off of the wax?

Couldn't make it without wax especially while sleeping. The bad thing is waking up with a super dry mouth. Does anyone have a solution for that? Or is that another thing we have to live with until braces are gone?

I wonder if there is any harm to the gums when the wax covers bits of them for a long time. Anybody know?
