The retainer is key.. Hate to do all this and go through everything just to not maintain the work that was done! Heck if the dr told me to stand on my head I would probably think about it haha

Welcome! I got mine on in late December so I'm not super far ahead. I also have a fourteen year old that is a couple months ahead of me.

I actually had my first adjustment last Wednesday and got wire ties....pretty much on almost my entire bottom arch. Crazy!!! I get the feeling this is a heck of a ride. :)

Hi everyone! Just come out of consultation had xrays and moulds. Ortho said no extractions which I'm glad about! I will get them on my top teeth in three weeks for 9 months then look at putting a brace on bottom teeth. This all sounds very straightforward and too good to be true. He did say however, I need braces on the inside of my top teeth too. So two sets up top! That is gonna hurt like hell!!!

My ortho is quite young about 30 same as me, do you think older or younger orthos are best?

The waiting is the worst part! Time just seems to drag on and on!

2 sets of braces on the top teeth? So you'll have regular one's on the outside of your teeth and then another lingual set at the same time? Wow, I've not heard of that before!

Yep, I thought I'd never get mine on. I had to wait a little over a month once I'd paid and made the appointment. I remember running on the treadmill at the gym and daydreaming what it would be like once they were on  That last week was the worst. Every day just seemed to go on and on and on and then on the day, I got them on at lunchtime and I thought lunchtime would never arrive!

Hi, I get my seps (are they the same as spacers?) in around two weeks then a week after should be the braces!! My sisters are panicking about thier teeth now and wanting to get them sorted out. They think I'll lose weight and have perfect teeth! They are a little jealous but trying not to show it. I have lived too long with my teeth and feeling this way so I don't think they understand what this really means to me x

yeah i think they are the same thing.. little rubber bands wedged inbetween your tooth to make space for the bands? i go in on valentines day to get fitted for the bands and the nance button < can't wait for that basket full of fun!! .. then finally .. on the 27th .. ill be wired for sound .. also will be losing two teeth on that day too :-+ i am a glutton for punishment!

I hope i get the whole weight loss thing too .. could stand to lose a few or 20 lol we can hope right?!

are you having to have any extractions okate?

I am wondering if i put to much on one day but they are installing my braces on top and on bottom- and nance button - and having two teeth removed all on one day .. on the upside.. my dentist will give me some pain meds for the extractions!? lol
