That's interesting Isthistaken I never knew that!

Quick update -

Went to the dentist just now and got all numbed up only while I was waiting to go back in for the extraction, after she had a look at my X-rays, I noticed I wasn't numb around my tooth at all. She had managed to numb half my face including MY EYE! But didn't manage to numb the actual tooth!! I had a filling on the tooth next to it and was prescribed antibiotics for an infection in the wisdom tooth.

So obviously I didn't have it extracted today and will go back in a couple of weeks. She reckons it's actually quite common for the numbing injection to spread but it feels really weird!!!! At least it's been put off for a couple of weeks and I don't feel angry with her just feel a bit like it's wasted my morning.

This individual sounds totally incompetent. If it were I, I would never darken her doorstep again.

I also would never go back to that dentist. To somehow manage to numb half your face, but fail to numb the actual tooth? There are SOME variations in facial anatomy that moves the nerves around, but not that much.

Proper placement of Nerve Blocks is one of the most fundamental skills of a dentist. Sounds like she went too far in and hit one of your facial trunk nerves. If she can't get that right, I wouldn't trust her with anything.

hello, I'm not qualified to comment, but I had said to my orthodontist that I was happy that my wisdom teeth were already taken out (they were impacted) so that I will have lots of space if my teeth need to move back! He replied that braces would not move my teeth towards the back in the way that people imagine. I'm happy to have them out though so that they can't continue to cause me troubles!

Yes, you should tell your ortho. I still haven't had mine removed but am thinking to do so soon.
