Hello fellow coffee lovers!

Today is my 2-month mark, and I drink tea with milk, green tea, AND a Starbucks latte every single day. Glad to say that my teeth - and Damon Clears - don't show any staining. PHEW!

I use Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste, an Oral-B electric toothbrush, a WaterPik, and 3 different rinses: Listerine for antiseptic properties, ACT for fluoride, and Colgate Peroxyl for when I have cuts in my mouth from the braces. Incidentally, I've found that the Peroxyl makes my teeth appear whiter after using! I suspect it's the positive effect of hydrogen peroxide, yaay!

I don't think coffee would be an issue, although, to be safe, you can always swish some water around your mouth after drinking coffee/dark colored foods & drinks. Good luck everyone!

What about coffee and more importantly, red wine, with the tooth coloured braces you get with 6 month smile. Will they change the colour? God i'd love a glass of red wine!! I've been abstaining for fear of what will happen to my braces

I drink my coffee with a straw, too.

My advice would be to cut back on tea and coffee. I only drank green tea when I was braced but still had staining on my teeth around the edges of the brackets, it was only noticable when they are removed but it was there. I thought I had been very careful with my cleaning. My teeth polished up fine in the end and the stains were completely removed, but I was a bit concerned.

I only drink tea through a straw now. :D

Besides water, I drink pretty much everything with a straw. Coffee, tea, wine, alcohol, pop etc. I get some pretty weird looks holding a wine glass with a straw sticking out of it but hey, it works. lol

Today was a red letter day, I had pancakes. My first "solid" food in six weeks and I was so blissful to not have just had a meal of mush or goop. I am sick of Cream of Wheat but always thankful for it when I'm starved. Now, I think I will eat pancakes until I am thoroughly sick of them, too.

I need to try cappucino at home too! I can't drink lattes at Starbucks because something about them always makes me ill.

Lol the first week after getting my braces I made many stops to IHOP for pancakes. I also went nuts with drinking milkshakes so I had to stop buying my favorite cookies-n-cream yogurt because I was drinking 2 to 3 a day even when my teeth weren't sore....they just tasted GOOD!!

you can have red wine, it will be the ligs that change colour, not the brackets  if you have clear or light ligs, they will turn a colour but the brackets even if they are clear, shouldn't. :)
