Yes, big bite problems. Any time I had doubts about doing this, before and after extractions, and while waiting for getting braces on, all I had to do was to look in the mirror for my answer to why I'm doing this.
As we say at church every week, "another praise report" this morning. Good night's rest and I am braced to face my job today. I expect the busy-ness to occupy my mind with something besides what is going on inside my mouth.... And there IS something going on! :singing:

Two weeks into this journey and no complaints. I've been through several days of no wax and then other days, I have lots of spots needing it. I have lost about six pounds so far and thinkit is strictly from eating more slowly and eating less. The lunch hour is only so long and I must brush before going back. Overall discomfort level is and has been very very low. "Annoyance" would probably be the best word. Glad to be on my way.

Nana51...glad you are doing ok. I will be braced 1 week tomorrow. I am worried because I have almost NO pain...I hope things are ok! I did use wax on 1 spot..for maybe 3 days....no wax at all for the last couple.
Anyways...glad you are good!

That's great that you've had such a good start, JeniK. I had wondered about you and have been watching for new entries. I truly cannot complain. I think the days I have to talk more at work are the days I notice the brackets. If I'm feeling the least bit of irritation, I just wax up. That's what it is for and I see no need to have a sore mouth!
Good luck to anyone out there who is getting braced soon!

Today's my one-month celebration day. Hope all the other newly braced members here are doing well and that time is passing for you as quickly as it is for me.

IT sure is :)
I see you have your first adjustment before me, so you will have to tell me how it goes. I can't wait for stronger wires, to get the party started for sure... I want teeth to MOVE.

Kids041...Yes I noticed my first adjustment is before yours...but didn't I read on here that you have already been in again to see you ortho and had something done ? I am so ready for this adjustment. My luck...I will be very sore..making up for the lack of pain in the beginning !! I am constantly looking in the mirror...and see nothing happening. Some on here say they see movement in hours after braces on. Some within the first couple of weeks or so. Nothing here. So maybe with a different wire I will begin to see a little movement. Patience ....I tell myself. There was a reason I had to be off my medication...so more then likely might it take a bit of time for these ole teeth of mine to start to move.

Congrats to all on your one month anniversaries! I think that is a big deal, since it is a time of tremendous transition physically and more importantly emotionally and psychologically. I think if you can get through the first month, then it is all downhill from there. I remain the eternal optimist.

I am coming up on my one year anniversary -- time really has flown, especially this summer, and it does get easier. I supposedly have one year remaining. Since I did not have really serious issues, my improvements have been more subtle but nonetheless can sense that my bite is much improved, the teeth are moving into a better arch shape and are more uniform in terms of height and facing front and center. I'm sure there are proper orthodontic terms for that, but you get the idea.

Yes I have been back twice for the molar buildups. I keep wearing them down, and they keep building them up  :/
While I was there, they did put a powerchain between 2 teeth to help one tooth move enough that at my first adjustment they can go up to heaver wires. I think it has helped a bit, and I am hoping in the following month it helps even more, as I want the heavier wires.. I want to get some movement out of the crooked front teeth of course, but I also want the stronger wire to start moving my molars. That is causing issues due to a tipped molar, and my moving bite..
You will have to let us know how a official adjustment goes. :) and I am sure that if you compared your teeth today to the molds that they made at the beginning you would see some subtle movement :)

How exciting Nana51! How's it all going?

Clairelouse- I am getting banded up on Thursday (5 Sept). Also having really mixed emotions about it. You said you were considering canceling all social outings.....I am sure you were only partly joking, but I hear ya!! LOL. What has ended up happening there? It's been about a month yeah? How's it all going?

Have my first adjustment on the horizon, on 9/23. Still waxing on the rough spots as needed. I'm noticing small changes and find that quite exciting. The teeth on either side of my top front teeth are becoming more visible. They have been kind of tucked in behind my front teeth. On the lower set, I have just one tooth that is not turned as it should be. It is the only tooth that does not yet have a bracket. Flossing around that tooth is just amazing as there is absolutely no resistance anymore. So far though, I am not seeing any turning of the tooth. I have a little coiled wire in that area that I suppose is there to accomplish this task at some point. So thankful for the professionals who study all this and know what's needed and what will get the job done.
My granddaughter saw my braces for the first time in the last week. No big deal at first glance but later in the day, she wanted to know when I was going to take those off! :)
