Not sure if the fillings have been done yet, but with a perio evaluation, and dental exam, it is sometimes a good idea to go and see the orthodontist to determine if any teeth need to be removed for orthodontics. This way, you don't end up getting the teeth filled and then removed. Good luck getting started with your treatment!

Thank you for the advice! I've been doing more research and I am not quite sure if they will be able to close the gap without extracting more teeth because of needing to get the correct bite. I think usually the extractions are done for crowding issues? I have exactly the opposite problem (wide spacing) so not sure if they will want to extract any more. But, I haven't gotten the fillings yet so when I see the ortho this Friday I will definitely ask about that. I am also going to schedule a 2nd consult with another office so I can get multiple opinions and make the most informed choice! Thank you again!

Hi all,
I am 24 and am going to get braces soon. But I am worried about cavities as my teeth have always been cavity prone. I already have fillings on all 5 molars(1 extracted when I was 15), 2 2nd premolers filled too. Also when went to ortho he found 6-7 small cavity starting points which he is going to fill up before braces.

Will my molars get more bad after braces?! I always take very good care of my teeth but they just don't stop getting bad! :(
pls if any one had same situation? can help?
TIA
Impacted upper right canine,
Severe crowding in lower jaw,
Had lower 2 premolars extracted on 10 June 2017,
Sentenced for 1.5 to 2 years.

Well done, you did and continue to do all the right things, and I am glad that it is working out for you! I agree that you should go to an orthodontist for traditional braces -- hard to imagine that Invisalign would do the trick. Best of luck to you!

I had to get all my issues taken care of before I was able to get braces. I went YEARS without dental treatment and had lots of issues. I ended up getting 7 teeth pulled (3 wisdom, 3 root tips as the teeth broke off at the gum line, and 1broken tooth that couldn't be saved), 2 cavities filled, and a deep cleaning. A month after the deep clean I was able to be braced...ive has them on for exactly 1 wk.
