Re: Will tooth extraction ruin my face?

#16 Post by elena »

Hello everyone;

This is a bump to the thread since I don't seem to be able to start a new post.

I started orthodontic treatment in late October and stopped having adjustments in May when I noticed face changes. I had two upper bicuspid extractions and one lower during mid-October and then braces fitted at the end of October. I'm 46 years old, female. I spoke to my ortho but he says braces don't affect your face in any way, so I have an appointment with a new ortho in August.The practice has excellent reviews and they confirmed I can keep my old braces and they will continue treatment. I explained I am unhappy with changes in my profile, they said they have cases like mine, and also perform surgery. I wouldn't go through surgery myself, but I am willing to have implants in the extraction sites which are still about half open at least. My question is: Does anybody know whether it is possible to RE-OPEN THE EXTRACTION SPACES with the same braces that were used to close the spaces? Kind of like the reverse mechanism?

Thank you and best wishes, Elena
