Cmilt wrote:Tomorrow I start my fastbraces at 53. The dentist said it will take around 7 months. Tomorrow he will put the braces on the top 4 front teeth then the rest will be put on at the next visit. I am so nervous but excited at the same time.
Hi I am also 53 and about to have top and bottom braces in just under 4 weeks....I too am so so so nervous....I note you posted to say the 4 top ones weren't as bad as you thought...I'm feeling nervous about the whole mouth in one go....but in for a penny in for a pound!! Mine is estimated 18 months....
Keep us posted....
Yeah I'm a little nervous for the rest to go on but today is not bad at all. I'm glad that they did it this way because now I can at least get used to feel of the braces before they do the rest. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
I've been frantically googling about staining. Been bleaching like mad this last week - oh, the irony if in the first week my brackets and wires end up yellow ... :-)
I just had mine put on this afternoon. I also had to have a lower front tooth extracted because of the crowding. It definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. My mouth is a little sore from the extraction, but I've been taking Advil. I have to say it feels super weird having these things attached to my teeth - and the bite guards made eating really challenging. My estimated treatment time is 7-8 months and I'm really happy about that. This was the perfect option for me because I only have crowding/overlapping and didn't need a bite overhaul - and I didn't want to spend the 2+ years in Invisalign.
Chippy3000 good luck tomorrow. Remember to take Advil or Tylenol before you go, and don't forget the chapstick. Your lips will get really dry with the spreaders being in for so long. Let us know how it goes.
I have really sensitive teeth and I'm also a giant pansy! Getting them on was fine, it's just the adjusting and settling down that's a bit painful where there are most crooked. I'm sure it's different for everyone. I've read of people having no pain at all. Either way shouldn't last too long.
D-Day tomorrow! Giving them a final overnight bleaching so they'll be lovely and white, which will contrast nicely with the yellow-stained brackets that I've no doubt I'll manage ...
