I feel like my lips are a lot bigger - kind of an Angelina Jolie look!

Well this is my second day in my top brace and I am defo using a lot of wax now, my teeth are throbbing in different places and I cant put any pressure on them at all, eating is a bit of a nightmare so its been mash, soup and more mash!!!!

Today I did get a bit upset because the only thing I don't like is the fact that I can feel the brace all the time, I am so aware of it and it feels sharp, it actually feels like having barbed wire in my mouth! I feel like I want to put something padded over it just to stop feeling it all the time, if it wasnt for that I think I'd feel a hell of a lot better about the whole thing.

But we gotta keep our spirits up, its all for a good cause and I just keep trying to think positive and imagine what my new smile is going to look like! :D

Thanks KK :D

I feel a bit better today, I'm still very self conscious of the brace but people at work have been supportive so its not been too bad, I just have an issue now with eating in front of people, I had soup today and was trying my hardest not to slurp it!!

oh dear, I'm dairy intolerant as well!! I love to eat cheese but shouldnt, but I think I am going to treat myself with a peice cut up into little bits later tho

[quote ALSO DOES ANYONE WHERE WAX IN PUBLIC ON THERE FRONT TEETH I KIND OF FEEL WEIRD TO GO OUT IN PUBLIC WITH THE WAX BUT I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD THINK WAX COULD FEEL SO GOOD.
THANKS SO MUCH PINKDIAMOND[/quote]

Hi PinkDiamond,
What I do with the wax is I roll it between my fingers (like a snake or something...about the length of three teeth). I sit it on top of three or so brackets (not on the front, but on top of them) and then press it down with my finger. It makes a smooth barrier without covering the face of the bracket. It feels good on your lips without being so very obvious! Give it a try!

Aurelia,
It really does get better! I have been in my top braces for 10 days now and there really are moments now when I realize I had forgotten they were there! My only problem now is that one of my bands is rubbing my tongue and it is hurting a little. I cut my tongue on it the other day and since I can't get it to stop rubbing that spot...it still hurts!!! Other than that, I'm good. Last weekend, I was feeling pretty trapped in these things! I kept telling my friends that I wished I could have only 15 minutes out of them. I just wanted to be able to take them out and sit them on the nightstand for a little while! You will begin to feel used to it in a week or so. Just keep using the wax. I went on jawproducts.com and ordered some purple/grape wax and red/cherry wax...might as well have fun with it, right? LOL

Thanks MsTiaLia, I sure appreciate your advice and support :D

I can SO relate to that one!!! but this morning tho I woke up and forgot for a moment the brace was there, mainly because I put lots of wax over them before I went to sleep. It was a great feeling for all of 10 seconds!!

Eating is still tiresome, lastnight I cut all my food up but it took me so long to eat that I lost my appetite and left half of it, I've come to the conclusion that Weight Watchers should advise their dieters to go get their teeth checked out, braces are a great way of losing weight...hehe

I am feeling more positive about the whole thing as the days go on and even though I am still experiencing those 'get em off' moments' I cant wait to start seeing some real changes with my teeth. :D

I just got my uppers on Friday  They also put in 8 spacers, so needless to say, I've been having a rough time. Two of my teeth were so tightly packed together that the ortho had to put in a wire spacer, to make room for the regular one! OUCH! Having said that, I'm actually doing pretty good today. I've been going heavy on the ibuprofen and sticking with pudding, soup, etc. Just try not to think about, and before you know it, you'll forget about it!
