Hi kpdude, we must have had our inmans fitted around the same time as I am almost at the 2 week point now. Like you, I am wearing it as much as I can - over 18 hours most days and I too have noticed some movement already in my two front teeth, one needs to go back a bit and the other brought forward, I see my dentist on 16th June for my first adjustment and should then have a better idea of how long I will need to keep my aligner for. I have good days and bad days as far as speaking is concerned, but even this has massively improved. I would say to anyone thinking about having an Inman Aligner fitted to go for it and persevere with keeping it in as much as possible. If, like me, you have to speak a lot in your employment, practice reading out loud, I do this for 10 minutes every morning and really feel it helps. My husband is enjoying a book that he would never have read if left to his own devices so bonus all round!

Good luck with your final outcome, I'm sure it will be worth it - I'm certainly looking forward to mine!

Not a lot to report over the past two weeks slow movement on both upper and lower. No pain...then today I'm feeling tenderness in the stubborn most crooked tooth. Yessssss! Finally ..lol. Its so weird that even though I haven't felt tenderness or pain it seems to be working. My smile has improved soooooo much in the past 6 weeks. Very happy so far

Progress report! Visit to my dentist yesterday for my first review - 3 weeks into my treatment and he is extremely pleased with my progress as am I. My teeth are straighter and I now have a new composite blob on the front of one of my teeth as well as the two at the back of them and my Inman Aligner now feels much tighter again and seems to make more of a resounding click when I put it back in after eating. My next review is in anther 3 weeks and he thinks by then he will be doing another mould to send to the lab for the next stage of treatment which is the clear retainer which I will need to wear for another two weeks I think .... so much information to take in. My speech has improved dramatically now that the adjustment to my teeth has been made (more filing etc). I am hopeful that my treatment will be complete by the end of July. If anyone is thinking of having this treatment or is in the early stages of it - do persevere, it is awful for the first week or so but the results so far are amazing and you will get used to wearing your aligner and your speech will improve. I think I had one day in the early stages where I really got depressed and felt I couldn't go on with it but with the support of friends and family I got over it and decided to think more positively about the outcome. I am sooooo looking forward to the final result

Well I'm one week in with my Inman aligner. Speech is awful, somebody yesterday said I sound like I'm deaf! But I'm hopeful this may improve over the next week or so. I've been wearing it all the time, apart from when I eat so I hope this will mean its quicker. My teeth have ached a little and I've had a sore on the inside of my cheek but nothing unbearable and I haven't had to have any pain killers or anything. I go back to the dentist on 2 July for filing I guess and an adjustment. I'm sure it's probably my imagination this early, but my teeth do look a little straighter to me.

Just to say I felt a bit embarrassed this week at having braces at my age (I'm 45), I've had a couple of people say 'bit late for that aren't you?' But then I had two people I know, my age, who said they had always wanted straight teeth and were watching my progress and considering doing it too. That made me feel a bit better. So to anyone way over 25 considering it, go for it,

I had all the symptoms you've described, so perfectly normal, your speech will improve so stick at it, mine is much better since I had my adjustment and filing last week. By the way, I'm 52 and someone said petty much the same thing to me ... jealousy perhaps!! With regard to speaking, try reading out loud for 10 minutes every day before going to work, I find this really helps. Good luck!!

Thanks for the reassurance, and feel better about the age thing now! I've also got 2 composite blobs at back of teeth which I've finally got used too! Looking forward to my first review in 10 days time. It's great that your dentist feels you only have a few more weeks, that's so quick, I hope mine will be too.

Do most of you folks have upper and lower aligners; or just one or the other?

And another question; are they more for moving the front teeth; or will they move teeth in the whole arch?

I don't have them, but this thread made me curious.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

It depends, personally I just have an aligner for my top teeth as the bottom are ok.

I was told they move the front teeth up to canines not the whole arch.

Just wondered how things are progressing, as it's been a couple more weeks?

I have mine for just the top set. One tooth needs to go forward and the other backward, things are progressing really well and I am hoping for another good result on 8th July when I see my dentist again!

Well today's day two. I had the inman aligner fitted yesterday. My dentist did some filing in between my teeth yesterday and popped two composite blobs on my teeth one on the back of tooth three to put pressure forward and one on the front of tooth four to push that tooth back.

So far I'm finding the IA uncomfortable and my speech and lisping is bad.

Please someone tell me this is going to get better as I'm severely self conscious at the moment and don't really want to go anywhere or see anyone!

Don't worry, the first week is the worst, I promise things will improve. I certainly felt the same as you and by the 5th day was totally depressed and just wanted to get rid of it completely and give up. With the support of my family and friends who gave me load of encouragement and then looking in the mirror that weekend to find things in my mouth were changing, I got over it and am so pleased that I did as I'm just over three weeks into my treatment and the difference is amazing. I had a look back at a photo of me last April and one taken a week ago and compared them and really couldn't believe the change. With regard to speaking, I really find that reading aloud to practice helps a lot. My mouth was very sore for the fist two weeks, I ended up with an ulcer on the inside of my cheek where the wire was catching as I spoke. I try to keep my aligner in as much as possible (I want a quick result) only taking it out for eating and drinking anything hot, it feels great to have it out for a while but I do put it straight back in as soon as I have finished. The turning point for me was my 1st review when my dentist was so pleased with the result, my next one is on 8th July and I should have a better idea then how much longer I will have to go until completion, also, due to the adjustments of composite blobs, my aligner feels more comfortable and I am able to speak so much better, I still have the lisp but at least I don't sound like a deaf person. Stick at it and wear your aligner as much as you can - look forward to seeing future posts from you as to how you are progressing. Good luck!

To cjfarmgate,

Thankyou! Your words are very encouraging! I think my speech is improving slightly by the hour and luckily I'm at home with my four year old who doesn't seem to care how I speak! I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant too so I've taken on a lot at once... I must be mad! Although I'm on maternity leave now which means I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to which helps until I'm more comfortable I guess.

I take it you are managing to keep your inman in as much as possible which is how I hope to be and so far I'm persisting!

My dentist is seeing me two weekly so my next appointment is on the 7th so I'm hoping things will have settled in slightly by then and I might even see a slight change to spur me on!

Couple of questions though... What's best to clean my aligner with? Also I'm finding when I take it out or put it back in after meals my teeth are so tender is this a good or bad thing?

Have you only had yours in for three weeks and already seen results... How bad was your teeth to start off with?
