First Time: $999

Second Time: $5400 minus $1000 for insurance, minus 10% for family discount and minus another 10% for paying in full. Paying $4300 out of pocket.

Surgery: $6000 - $8,000 if done in Costa Rica or over $20,000 if done U.S.

Total of $4500AUD -> $1000 up front, the rest as 5 x $700 quarterly payments.

And paying my final one today, I might add!

My insurance doesn't cover ortho so I'm paying for it all myself.

In Aus we can claim any medical/dental costs over a certain amount off our tax (don't quote me on the figure; I think it's any costs over $1000 or maybe $1500) so that's something.

Wow

I wonder if I can claim dental/health in the states? If so I have plenty to claim.

I'm in the Seattle area and my treatment time is estimated to be around 24-30 months at the price of $5,595.

With $1,500 insurance, 5% discount for paying in full, and a small deduction for having one of the x-rays done recently at the dentist,
my total comes down to $4,100.

Is that a good price for around Seattle?? Just curious because I've read so many lower prices since I came on this board

My total cost for Damon 3's, records, and retension is $7300. I had another estimate that was $6700 but the office was too far away to make it practical. After my insurance $1500 and my downpayment I will owe $150 per month for 27 months of treatment. I use a health savings account so that I can pay in pre-tax dollars which is helpful.

Thanks Meryaten for the information. I was starting to feel like maybe I should've shopped around more since there were so many people quoted much lower prices. The severity of each case is a great factor in determining the cost as well as the doctor's experience and so on, so I guess you can't really see who's really got a good deal unless you look at all the factors. Is Washington generally more expensive in dentistry than other states? I think I read a list on the main Archwire site but am not sure. But, your info relieved me a little nonetheless. :P

mine are €3700 - €700 down payment and €150 a month until it's paid. Estimated time of treatment is 4 years. If I wanted ceramic brackets it would have been €700 more. I think the same treatment in the Uk would have cost much more :?:

Mine cost $5000 + $150 records fee.

Adult braces...$4400 and then an extra $600 because of the ceramic uppers (bad choice for me...I should have went w/ metal). Insurance paid $2000 and I paid the rest.

Worth every cent so far (hoping for no TMJ relapse). :)

ETA: by the way, for those not braced yet, if you're concerned about the price of braces, you should check with your local Orthodontic College/Dental School/you get the idea, (if you have one) because usually they offer really good prices since you're helping them out as well (the students need experience). Just a thought. Funny all the info you come across *after* you're braced.
