My ortho told me that ceramics and metal have the same time frame, even with my 4 huge pre-molar gaps. I did notice that the ceramics had a bigger footprint than some other metals. With the clear, you have the option to be more covert about your tx, whereas metal, they'll always say "HI! I'm here!" Ceramics gives you the option but not everyone picks it for the same exact reason. Some don't like metal, others like the way ligs look on ceramics, others want to try and hide it but don't want to spend money for linguals or are not candidates for Invisalign. Others, like yourself, would rather save the money or are just plain, happy with the metal mouth look.

I (hopefully) only get to do this once, so I am having fun with my braces. Also, I opted against ceramics and neutral ligs because I didn't ever want to worry about staining. I just remember this girl in highschool who had ceramics and it looked like her teeth were coated in plaque and I did not want that for myself. I love the look of colored ligs on ceramics, and if you really want to do it you should go for it! You can always go back to neutral at your next adjustment. Is it really the end of the world to have someone notice your braces? You're doing something good for yourself, after all ;)

Well I got my upper arch braced this morning with ceramics and tooth colored ligs. So far so good. I don't have any pain and I can chew just fine. But I definetly have to get used to the feel of the brackets.
Lower metals go on july 27th(my daughters birthday) :D

I think that we (well me at least) are discreet at first because of the way our teeth look. Then when your teeth start to look great, that's where the attitude comes in where, you don't care if anyone knows if you have braces or not, because now your teeth look good, and you feel more confident and start to smile more. When you aren't happy with your teeth, you don't want to draw any extra attention to them. Well at least that's how I feel.

I wanted ceramics so it would be a bit less noticable, but I ended up with metal because my ortho said I'd get a much, much better result with them (Damons). So thats the only reason I have metal. :pinkbraces:

If you'd like to give it a try with the colored ligs, then go for it and have fun! You can always get them changed later on if you don't like it. By the way, does anyone have pics of their ceramics with colored ligs?
