meep wrote:wait a second....where do you all live? I live in Boston and went for one consultation for ceramics or linguals, and I was quoted $8500-10,000!! That doesn't seem remotely reasonable! Does anyone have linguals? Does that price seem really out of line for ~18 months?
Good thing I'm going to see someone else today!
That is a bit expensive!! I don't think Invasilign cost that much...I know that at my ortho the Invasilign was about 6 thousand. Good thing you're going to see someone else!

I'm in the Boston area. I have upper ceramics, lower metal. My costs are/were as follows:

Ortho treatment: $5900
extraction of 1 tooth: $125
1st exposure of cuspid: $550
2nd exposure of cuspid: $500
Total so far: $7075

My dental insurance paid a whopping $73 towards this bill. And since I started nearly 2 years ago, it might cost a little more to start treatment today. Your mileage may vary.

I paid $6500.00 for all inclusive. The insurance will pay $2,000.00 of that. I put around $1000.00 down and I am paying the rest montly, interest free for two years. My ortho is great though so I don't mind it being a little more expensive. I wonder if they charge more when they know you have insurance?

Consult: $60
Records: $200
Final Analysis: $100
Down payment: $440
+23 monthly payments of $200

Grand Total: $5400

If my expansion doesn't work out like it should, I will most likely have to have 3-4 teeth extracted. I guess that adds another $500-$600 to that.

$3800 for 12-14 months of treatment; I work for the biggest workers comp insurance company; I have great dental insurance. We have Metlife Managed Care (you can go to any dentist or orthodontist you wan't but there's all these incentives to choose one from the managed care program); one of these where my braces cost $3800 but my orthodontist was in the network and could only charge me $2800 :D plus $350 for records, my insurance covered 70% of both the record and braces. I ended up paying $125 for the initial payment and $750 for the braces for a total of $875 and my insurance paid $2275!
