YAY! I found a dentist/ortho today who uses inman - and I had a consult with him. He was actually chuckling at me that I did as much research as I did and I complained about err.. I mean described my problem quite accurately too.

I have another appt in 2 weeks to go back and find out what he thinks we can do, today we just discussed treatment options and did molds. Cost is an issue for me because I prefer not to finance something else, but if I can save some of it before starting, it might not be so bad. At least it's not the 5-6K being asked for invisalign. His guess is that if I don't skip hours and hours or days of wearing it, I could be done in 8-10 weeks, which is GREAT. Anything less than 2 years is a wonderful thing

ello,

I have found this site just a few hours ago, and it is quite great!!!! Smile
I live in Hungary (I hope that you're familiar with this country 'cause I know a person who thought that it is a town Very Happy) and Inman Aligner is quite a new appliance here. Unfortunately I have never met anybody in Hungary who used it before, so I'd like you to help me a bit (if it is not a very big question, btw, sorry for my english, i know it is not perfect, I haven't practiced it for years...) beacuse i do not have enough time to read all those pages...Can you do that pls?

I would like to know:

- if it is really effective and can straighten the front teeth within 16 weeks?
- Can you use it when you work? I mean can you speak properly when it is in your mouth?
- how many hours you have to wear it to achieve massive improvement?

Thanks a lot,

a desperate 20-year-old girl from Budapest Smile

Hi and welcome, Hungariangirl :)

I read all 42 pages when I found this site because I had been researching myself. Many people on here have used inman with great results.

I just had a consult last week and the ortho said most cases happen by 16 weeks, he guessed about 8-10 for me. It depends how fast your teeth move, some people noticed movement within a few days, other people didn't notice any for two weeks.

Most people said that it was hard to talk (and be understood) with an upper inman, so some users didn't wear it at work if they had to speak clearly all day (teachers, phone customer service etc). I didn't notice the same problem with lowers, although there does seem to be an adjustment period either way.

Wear time - the ortho I saw basically said 'the more you wear it, the faster your treatment will go' and based on user response here, I think the average was between 16-22 hours a day. Most people were around 18-22 with the dentist recommended to be 20 - at least that's what I saw most often.

Hope I answered your questions, feel free to ask more!

My IA broke last week. :(
I only had it for 3 and a half weeks.

My dentist has sent it back to the lab, who think they can fix it, but I'm not holding out much hope, one of the wires on the Adams crib has snapped, where it comes out of the plastic mould with the midline screw.

The aligner was still applying pressure on my teeth. And the dentist was about to take more impressions to get a replacement made, as she thought it wouldn't be able to be fixed, but then went to phone Inman, who think they can fix it.

The last time I wore it was last Wednesday, and probably wont get it back until tomorrow.
Will this time without it mean I'll be starting from scratch and have to go through the, "4 weeks of lag" again?

My timing was already tight, wedding is now in 7 weeks, I hope my teeth get a move on when I get it back.

Any thoughts?

I have it back!

Looks like they've replaced the whole thing.
Wish me luck with my teeth movement over the next 7 weeks. :)

Did you notice any movement in the last 4 weeks? Good luck finishing in the next 6 weeks or so!

Just an update. Got the composite sorted last Tuesday and the teeth filed again. Dentist said there hadn't been much movement and asked if I'd been wearing the IA for a couple of days then leaving it out..I've been wearing it 21 hours a day so left a little disappointed that after all that time not much difference. Anyway, week 4 and there has been a lot of movement and pain again, no pain, no gain I say. Am hoping the treatment is only 8 weeks although preparing myself for a couple of weeks longer. I go back again first week of July so I'll keep you posted.

Hi Guys

Just an encouragement update for those of you using the Inman. Im done with it, after 7 weeks, an amazing piece of kit. Some of you may know from previous posts I had an arch expander in for 10 weeks to make some room. Once the Inman got fitted I noticed movement within 4 days. I would highly recomend it to anyone, Just wear it as much as possible ( 22-23 hours a day ). Im now having some whitening done and two crowns fitted, I should be all done in the next 2 weeks. Worth every penny! Stick with it folks.

Cheers

Hello all.

I'm going to be starting my little adventure with the Inman aligner in a few months. First, I have to endure 8 weeks with an arch expander to make some space. They said 8 for the expander, and about 8 for the IA. I expect it to take a little bit longer however.

My front two teeth overlap and look awful. Especially from the side as the left tooth sticks out at a slight angle. For years I didn't care, even turning down the chance to have traditional braces for free on the NHS just before I turned 18. Well, what a mistake that turned out to be. Now at the age of 21, I am so self conscious about my horrible teeth that it's really beginning to affect my life. They really do bring me down. I hate to smile with my friends because I wonder if they will look at my teeth. Meeting new people is really hard for me to do. And I hate the fact that everyone seems to have normal teeth apart from me!

So I came here after doing some research and I'm hoping to talk to people who are in the same position as me! Has anyone else has had the arch expander treatment first? What does that feel like? How long did you have it for? Did it improve the appearance of your teeth? I'm so desperate to start wearing the IA! I basically want a quick fix. I hate waiting for something out of my control. Originally I was going to be given the IA straight away, but after doing some impressions they have told me that there isn't enough room. I was quite sad about that. It means another few months before I can start to straighten my teeth. I considered veneers but I practically wouldn't have any front teeth left, plus it's expensive and would need replacing every so often.

I'm so fed up of waiting, and so fed up of the fact that I didn't do anything about my teeth when I was young. But now, at least with a bit of luck I should have nice teeth by the end of October. I just can't wait any longer!

Hi Timmage

I used an arch expander for 10 weeks. There is some tension on your teeth at first and every 3-4 days when you adjust the screw to expand. My advice to you is to wear it as much as possible, I actually ate most foods with it in (except meats!). You will get use to it after a couple of days and your speech will improve. If someone cant understand what you are saying.. just do what I did, laugh and tell people its the brace talking.

8 weeks is lots of time , I got alot of expansion in 8 weeks and you will notice particulary your "side" teeth moving out to allow for your front teeth to move back. Then when you get the Inman it will pull back your front teeth and position them all in a line. You will be amazed how it works.

I was in a simialr situation as yourself except I waited until Im 33 do get something done about it. Forget about the past oppurtunity to have them fixed, your getting it done now! If you start now you will be finished by September. My Inman worked in 7 weeks, the Dentist reckoned that because I was wearing the expander previously that my teeth were "already moving" and its easier for the Inman to kick on.

Just stay patient and do everything you are supposed to and you will be finished in no time. I did some previous posts about wearing my Arch expander for the first time so you will see what to look out for.

Good Luck.

watch out for fake Inman Aligners!

#626 Post by Candy3313 »

Hi everyone Just joined this site and Just wanted to warn anyone thinking of getting an Inman Aligner fitted to find a certified dentist from the Inman Aligner website as I went to get one fitted recently and it turned out to be a counterfiet and the dentist was not even certified ,..I did lots of reasearch so knew what it should have looked like!! I am now continuing my treatment elsewhere .The dentist in question was only interested in money and I had a terrible experience with him and I am still trying to sort this out with him now. I am having my Inman Aligner(genuine one) fitted by another dentist this friday so hopefully all will go well this time

Anyone getting An Inman aligner fitted ,please visit the website and make sure you do plenty of research

This site is so helpful - thanks all for your information! I have been dabbling with the idea of 6 month smiles but stumbled across the IA on google and think it might be the one for me! The only thing it probably wouldn't help is my two little teeth (next to my front two teeth) which are a good millimetre shorther in length, but I don't think an IA would correct this? The main thing is how rotated they are, plus they are also a bit diagonal for want of a better word - almost like they are pointing to 4 & 5 o'clock rather than straight down to 6'o clock!!

Anyway, I have found a website online for BRDS (battersea rise dental stuio) which seem to be doing IA for £895 per arch... is this too good to be true?! Anyone know whether they will sting for extra costs/had any experience with them whatsoever?

Sorry for the long first post but it's so good to speak to real people about these things and it is a big step/investment so want to be sure!

Thanks in advance! :D

Quick update,

Had my arch expander fitted today, lisping quite badly but it's not as bad as I imagined. It's a very small device, thought it would be much more intrusive. It's also not painful at all, slightly uncomfortable but nothing more. Also had my teeth filed a bit, that was not a problem for me at all. Actually thought it was quite cool! It didn't hurt, and the sound wasn't as terrifying as I thought it would be, and all the time I was thinking "hey, I'm actually going ahead and doing something about my teeth" so the whole experience on day one has been very positive. Obviously, it's a long road ahead, but it could've been much, much longer had I not read about Inman Aligners.

So I wear this expander for a few months, and then I start the real deal. Hope the rest of the year goes nice and quick so I can start to enjoy a nice long future with straight teeth. I almost feel that this year now is transitional and all the discomfort and embarrassment will be worth it for a life time of confidence and a nice smile! Bring on the end result!

Hi

Some very reassuring stories and I am very grateful for finding this site. I have one week to go to get my space creating brace in preperation for my inman aligner. I was initially concerned as I have a 45 degree rotation required but apparently this is not a problem at all! I have an estimated finish time of 12 - 16 weeks but feel this must be the standard quoted time by what I have read on here and various websites - the thought of having my wonky tooth turned for christmas is fabulous!

Hi.

I got the inman aligner there about 10 weeks ago. Everything so far going ok.
Before i got the inman, my dentist told me that i may need an arch expander screw incorporated into the aligner which i would need to turn ever so often.

However, after all the talk, I got the aligner and there was no screw incorporated it so Im just working with the normal aligner. Anyways... im just wondering... Ive read about people that have worn an arch expander for a few weeks and then wore the IA. And im wondering what the difference between wearing an arch expander for a few weeks and then the IA and wearing the IA with an expansion screw incorporated into it is?

Cheers

JM
