Yikes! I think it's a cavity, plus my 2nd adjustment

#1 Post by sleater »

Hi!

I had my second adjustment on Saturday, if anyone wants to view more progress I have uploaded new pictures which you can find on the third page here:

viewtopic.php?t=9211

The adjustment went well, quite a bit of pain but it's mostly gone now. But...I have been having irritated gums on the upper front part of my mouth the past month. Even the ortho commented on Saturday about how they look awfully puffy. We'll last night I think I figured out why, I was cleaning and I noticed that my gum was looking kind of dark in one area and has been bleeding quite a bit. So I got out my little rubber poker thing (obviously I have no idea what this is called) and kind of lifted my gum up a bit. Then what did I see but what looks like to be a cavity on my top right lateral incisor right along the gum-line. It's black...gross I know! I guess It's been like that and I never noticed it because this tooth was right in behind my front tooth. Now since the movement I can now get a look at what's actually going on. My dentist has squeezed me in and I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to have it sorted out. Has anyone on here ever had a cavity on a tooth that isn't a molar? Is this normal? I'm a little freaked out to say the least.

Thanks!

I haven't had a cavity in the front but I'm pretty sure it is common so don't worry too much about it. Some people have more than 15 cavities so...

I saw your pics and OMG!!! You have had SO much movement. It's unbelievable how your teeth have moved so fast! I'm jealous!!

I hope your teeth move just as fast until your next adjustment :)

Although I don't know how, I managed to get a cavity in the back of one of my front two teeth (maybe 15 years ago). I was a little freaked out like you said you are, but the whole filling process was actually easier because there wasn't as much depth as with a molar.

Good luck, and you'll probably feel better once it's taken care of.
