braces pain STILL

#1 Post by mandaluv »

i have had my braces for a month now. while they really don't hurt crazy bad, they have caused some minor discomfort. the kind of pain i have had is really annoying. it's not the eating that hurts so bad. sometimes when i eat, i will find that a random tooth is sore. not so bad. what's bothering me is that my gums (especially towards my molars) have a burning pain sensation. kinda like when you lift weights.. that burning pain in your muscles. anyway, it just makes me have urges to bite down. i hope i am not alone in this. has anyone else experienced something like this while having braces? i'm not worried that something is wrong.. i'm pretty confident that everything is fine.

I never had a "burning pain" but my gums can itch like crazy even with lots of brushing and flossing. But it comes and goes.

The feeling of wanting to bite down is normal, so do it as long as you're not going to bite off any part of your braces. Seriously, it can make you feel better! The sensation will eventually go away!

I have this kind of pain on my 1st molar...when I apply some kind of pressure or when I brush my teeth...the pain (though not extreme or anything) feels like its going through the roots...its weird... I'm kind of scared of mentioning it to my ortho or dentist though...so we'll see how it goes.
