1 quick question - redness on the corner of my mouth

Have any of u gotten a little redness on the corners of your mouth since getting braced? I sometimes had it before braces but it was quite rare. I have one for nearly a month now and it's slowly going away. I've heard this could be lack of vitamins and I guess it makes sence 'cause I've started to eat less since I got braced. I've brought some vits. and I have been taking them for nearly two weeks.
If any of you know of a good solution for it let me know!

Hi Joanna I had sore/red corners of my mouth and found out it was from the dental floss I used. Somehow, I would drag it across the corner of my mouth when trying to get it into my back teeth. Once I became aware of it and made sure I moved the corner of my mouth out of the way with my fingers, the problem went away.

This may or may not be your problem. Good luck to you.

Hi Joanna,

You are probably thinking that you have Angular Cheilitis. It typically presents with some cracks or ulcerations. If you are concerned about a vitamin deficiency and it is in fact AC, then you will want to take Vitamin B supplements to help out. Hope that helps.

Best,
Rory

I have had the same problem off and on for the entire 14 months that I have had braces. Sometimes my mouth is fine, and other times I will have red in the corners (one corner in particular) for anywhere from 1-3 weeks at a time.

I eat well and take a multivitamin every day, and this still happens to me...I agree with others that it is probably from opening my mouth so much, flossing, and my lips/mouth being generally more dry since I got braces.

That happens to me.

I've noticed that mine happens a lot more often since I got braced - but it only seems to happen when I am stressed about something.

Whenever the external stress goes away and I calm down then it seems to get better really quick.

So in my case it's probably a combination of stress with all the mouth activities of brushing and flossing.

Hey guys! You have been super helpful! I think the vitamins I'm taking are pretty good because I've taken them before and they seemed to work well. I'm thinking it's stress plus lack of vitamins, plus floss plus being super tired. Hopefully it will go away soon!
Thanks!
