Anithistamines and mouth irritation

#1 Post by Grandpatty »

I hear a lot of talk about too much saliva, but my problem is usually not enough. I had constant irritation from my braces for about 6 months. Then I realized that the allergy nasal spray (Astelin) that I used every day was drying my mouth as well as my nose. I quit using the Astelin and no more mouth irritation! I just wanted to share that in case someone else is as slow to figure things out as I am. My nose runs more now, but my mouth is not sore.

Grandpatty, thanks for your post. I notice that when I take Allegra, I too, have a dry mouth. I find I need to keep a sugar Free cough drop in my mouth at work sometimes because of this. It unfortunately causes a lot of saliva and I have to watch I then don't drool.....
