Crossbite & elastics

#1 Post by johnnya »

So I got to wear those. After previous extraction, my overbite is much better. I have crossbite on one side only and now have to wear elastics during night only. Is that gonna help?
My ortho says its going well, but I'm quite skeptic..
BTW can braces alone close a gap after an extraction??

Hi, I also have a crossbite on one side. Right now the ortho has tweaked the wire to expand the one side a bit. But I've known since the beginning I would have elastics for this as well. Let me know how yours go. I have worn elastics for a few months now to expand a gap where I have a missing tooth and I can tell you they DO work. I have moved my teeth an entire place with them and the the help of a spring. Be religious about wearing them. They can only work while they are in.

I had 3 teeth out before the braces, and now only have 2 gaps, so yes, braces alone can close extraction gaps! Of course it would depend on the treatment, but if your ortho is trying to close the gap, chances are it will happen.
