How may here had to make a big down payment or got braces on a monthly payment plan? I just wanted to see how many people do this these days. I'm not financially fortunate, so I will be paying around $105 monthly when I get my braces! :|

I'm on a monthly plan. My ortho offered two options: pay it all upfront and save about $200 or put a $1000 or so down and pay $200 monthly, no interest. One of the things I read when I was trying to decide about braces is that it's usually a good idea to make the monthly payments -- just in the remote possibility that your ortho leaves town or does a really bad job you don't agree with you're not out all that money up front.

My insurance covered $1000, and I had to put down 10% of the remaining balance the day I got banded. Total treatment is $4500, so I had to put down $350. I make monthly payments with no interest. Not a bad deal since the first ortho I saw wanted to charge me $8,550.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy bugger.....

My insurance covers up to $1800 I think. I had to pay $500 down, and monthly payments will be $80 until I reach $1800. And after that, they'll be $160.

I had to pay for my molds and x-rays up front, insurance covered $1000, and I pay about $160 a month for 33 months. No interest. Total bill was around $5500.

I paid £700 up front for X rays, impressions and the initial appliance fitting, and then I will pay so much a month for the next 12 months.

I paid $120 down and then 120 for 34 months. this includes my records, braces and either 3 pairs of retainers or 3 years of retention care. so for $4200 I guess I get 6 years treatment. 3 in braces and 3 retention.

The way my ortho's office works.....
You pay $250 the day of your records appointment to cover x-rays, impressions, etc. Your second consult is free. The day you get your braces placed it is $1000. After that it is a monthly payment of $150 until the full price of $5350 is paid. If you go beyond the estimated treatment time there is no additional fees. They said they have never had to charge for replacing brackets that have popped off. They include 2 sets of retainers (or one set of bonded retainers) and follow up appointments for 2 years.

My husbands insurance covers $2000 and my mom said she will pay 1/2 of what the insurance is not covering so my husband and I are only paying a very small amount of the total price!

I had to pay $160 for records and molds, the price was cut in half if I decided that day to get braces. They put the spacers in as soon as I was finished with all the xrays, molds, and pictures. In 2 weeks I had the braces and quad helix put on. They charged me an additional $200 for the 6 clear braces. My monthly payment is $178 for 28 months that I have to wear them. That fee includes the cost of my retainer which I am paying for in advance. I think the retainer was $600 by itself. Not too bad compared to some.

Your fees sound just like mine. Are you seeing Dr. Phillips?
