Some movement,Pics my imagination???

#1 Post by Gennel »

Ok I've only been braced for 3 weeks now but I swear I see some movement on my front tooth that was appeared much more overlapped and the archwire was was more slanted on my first day in braces. I know my incisors that are not connected to the archwire are more pushed back now since my front teeth seem to be moving. I also feel/hear a click sound when I bite down sometimes. I feel like the click sound is coming from the root of some of my teeth that are starting to move?

I've stared at these pictures at least 30 times to see if I can notice some minor movement. The first pic was taken about 2 hrs after getting braced on 6-14-06 and the second pic is two weeks later 6-28-06

What do you guys think? Be totally honest! Maybe I'm nuts lol.

You've definitely got some movement.

I noticed a difference in my teeth after only a few weeks as well. My teeth were crowded and overlapped (and twisted and pointing in the wrong direction...)- I think bad misalignment actually helps you notice even small movement, since it's easier to spot changes in the relationship between teeth because they feel different.

And yes, I had the "clicking" thing too on my lower teeth. It seems to be quite common and nothing to worry about unless it's painful. It's just a sign that things are moving, which is a good thing!

Yes they have moved, notice the incisal edge relationship between the two pics and also the condition of the papilla (pink thing between your teeth). Your contact point has changed and your papilla has adapted.

The "clicking" when you bite is the archwire disengaging the bracket for a moment. It is normal to have some slipping of the wire as your teeth move, it should go away as your teeth move into position and the brackets ideally engage with archwire.

Rory

I think so because I see a "black triangle" between the top two front teeth and I did NOT have that before. Even my 9 yr old noticed right away lol.
Today I have to take my other daughter for an adjustment so the ortho will most likely take a peek at my 3 week progress. I have my first adjustment in a week!
The first thing I noticed about the teeth is that some have slight gaps that the floss just goes in without any problem. The front top teeth can be flossed really easy on the top and bottom of the teeth ,only a tiny piece of the center is where it get's stuck. So I magine that's the only part that needs to be moved to finally get that tooth "unlapped" lol I will take monthly pics from now on. I really would love to see my pics in December! To me this is such a huge deal, this is freedom in so many ways for me. I will most likely be one of those to keep wearing their retainers at night ,for life!
