Honestly, I don't know. When I started, they told me I had an overbite, so I'm going to assume that is why I'm wearing them. The ortho also told me that he thinks I could be almost done, so maybe that's why he put them on? Who knows! Maybe I should ask more questions.

I don't have my elastics yet.....I don't even have bottom braces yet (HA,HA,HA)......but I have been told I will have them during my treatment. I will have them for an overbite and to shift my midline.

I am currently wearing elastics from my upper first and second molars to the bottom first and second molars - box configuration. I need to close my bite. I have also had class two configuration and then from the upper eye teeth to the bottm eye teeth.
Had Damon 3 / Smart Clips for almost 2 years
Now in Hawley upper 10 hours/day, permanent lower retainers

I don't have elastics yet, but when I get them I will have them to shift my midline and correct my overbite.

I have rubber bands for my cat to chase... oh you mean orthodontic ;)
My husband finds those elastics EVERYWHERE in the house.
Ok, so I'm guilty of taking the suckers out when and where-ever I chose to eat a snack and I forget to throw it away.

Mine is on for midline correction...among other things.

Chris, my boyfriend said just today that everywhere he turns he finds my elastic bands in our house!

My elastics, currently, are for shifting my midline. I look very glam with it going right across the front!!

I liked your joke Meryaten!

I have elastics right now to correct a class II overjet and an overbite. In addition, I HAD tiny elastics to correct something I can't quite understand in my 2nd molars. elastics from top to bottom on both sides. I didn't really notice much difference, but my ortho was happy! That's all that really counts, right?

I also tend to take them out and leave them around when I snack and forget to put them back in. If it were one of my KIDS doing this, I would be REALLY irritated, but it's me so it's okay!! :biglaf:

On a side note, I just spent a week being a councelor (with my family) to middle school kids at a summer camp and so many of them had braces and quite a few of them (even boys) would tell me about their elastic configurations and how long they had to wear them. It was really sweet.

I wore Damon 3's and Opals for 20 months at age 42. Braces off January 2007
