GUMS ARE REALLY LOOSE, IS THIS NORMAL?

#1 Post by LUV2SING »

Hi everyone, I was flossing yesterday and noticed my gums look really strange. I ran the floss up the side of the tooth and it slid up really high on the tooth. It almost looks like some of gum has been detached or something. It doesn't hurt and there is no bleeding or swelling. Is something wrong? My teeth have always been tight and hard to floss but this seems really weird to me. It is happening on several of my upper teeth. I have a quad helix expander. I'm wondering if something went wrong. I've had my braces on for almost 5 months now. Has anyone else had this happen?

I was told to expect gums to loosen since there is teeth movement. I have that problem on my upper front teeth. Especially in my front two teeth. I can now put the floss in with no effort and it goes way up below the gumline. Keep up your brushing, flossing ,rinsing and do warmwater salt rinses. Call your ortho or mention it to him in your next adjustment.
