Well the final b-day countdown is here.................

Hi all, well 3 more days, before I'm totally hooked up!!!

Still very scared and very excited..................had a question though, does your teeth and what not hurt more when you have braces put on crowded teeth?? Cause my friend had hers put on this year, but hers were basically straight (not much crowding or crookedness) and she never seems to have too much pain or problems................

Congrats on getting braced! It will be a step you won't regret... (ok, myabe at first, but you will get used to it!)

I had severe crowding, more on my bottom than top, but I didn't have too much pain at all. The only pain I had was the inside of my mouth getting used to having the brackets rubbing all the time. I was very concious all the time that I had them on. Now I don't even really remember unless I try to eat something I'm not supposed to!

I can't say for those who have gaps in their teeth, but for crowding, I think it's just normal pain (for about a week or so)

Good luck!!!

They move the teeth really slowly so your pain will be manageable whether your teeth or crowded or not. They start out with thinner wire and move up gradually. Make sure that you take ibuprofen on the days that your teeth do hurt a little. You will have the most pain 2 days after being braced and it will last 1-2 weeks. Then you will have mild pain after each adjustment. There are some folks on the board who claim they have no pain. So your mileage may vary.

I think Blondie111 and I are perfect examples of how everyone is different! Not to scare you, but I was miserable for about the first 10 days, and had tooth pain SOMEWHERE in my mouth everyday for the first 6 weeks. Only recently have I been able to bite into a sandwich or burger, and I have my first adjustment today, so it's probably back to pasta for me! lol! Anyway, I hope I'm the minority, and that you don't experience too much pain. Best to plan on eatng soft foods for a bit, and cut or tear everything up into small pieces. And remember - wax is your friend!!!

I love this website, and would like to thank all of you who have replied to my endless amount of questions I have going on in my head....it is soooo diverser with people and everyones experiences, you can learn soo much.....so anyother question, as I said before my friend has gotten her braces earlier this year, so I am constanly askin her for info.............but she seems to be one of those who has little probs with her braces, and she said she barely usese wax, and that she tried to use wax on while eating but it didn't work out for her, toooo much stuff getting stuck!!

So kinda sounds to me, even though there is a ton of different views and opions out there, that everyone is indivdual on how and what they are gonna go through??

But as earlier stated I luv havin this site to go to for info!!
