Metal Mouth Message Board

Hello i am a newbie to this site, i have had my braces for 5 months now. I have this one canine tooth on the bottom that is higher than the other and my ortho told me that they can "push it down into the bone" Sounds very painfull. Do they do that with braces or some other way?
