Swollen gums

I don't have gum disease but my gums cover alot of my teeth so they are "little" teeth and my gums are more swollen since Ive had my braces. I floss regularly and brush with a soft/medium brush and try to massage my gums everytime I brush. Any ideas on getting the swelling down? Thanks in advance.

Like Karen I've had swelling where gaps have closed but If you have a lot it's possible there could be an underlying problem. If it doesn't get better within a few days I'd def have a word with your regular dentist.

I too have the same issue. I posted on here totally freaked out about it. Before braces I had a slightly gummy smile (which I plan to get corrected with laser contouring) but one day after my braces were on for abuot 3 months and the spaces started to close my gums were covering a lot of my tooth!. There was not pain or anything just swelling.

I just told my ortho and he said it did not look like anything out of the norm. It sounds like you have good cleaning habits but I would just ask him/her to double check.

And like KK said salt water rinses.

Good luck
