Has the toothpaste ban on airplanes affected you and your oral hygiene routine?

It has affected me a great deal -- very inconvenient for my oral hygiene.

I DO NOT travel to and from countries with this ban, so it has not affected me at all.

Has the ban on toothpasted affected you?

I'm just wondering if the airline ban on toothpaste, which is about a month old already, has affected anyone here? What have you done to work around it?

The liquid ban started a day before my husband and I flew to South Dakota to visit his family. Normally we pack only with carry on luggage to avoid the baggage carosels, but since we were unable to bring the basics, it was a no-go. We checked our bags instead, and for the trip out it was okay (the South Dakota airport isn't exactally big!), but when we flew home to DC (Dulles Airport) we waited for over an hour before our bags came out.

I understand the need for security measures, but frankly, I think this is overkill. Not to mention people are still getting things by. On our outbound flight, we connected to Chicago, which is a transfer point for people flying to Asia. In the row next to us, there was an older Asian man with a mason jar of brown liquid (probably tea) with no label, except for a piece of tape saying "Hot Water Please". I wasn't frightened by it, but I was irritated that ONE DAY after the ban, the airport security was already screwing up and letting people through.

So, in short - YES! It certainly has affected me! :)

you can take it on a plane you just have to stowe it below. I have been on many flights sinse then and have had no problems, just don't try to carry it on.

I've had to fly 4 times since the August ban. I take my tooth brush/ proxy brush on board and just brush with water. Get's a bunch of the food off at least. Then I brush with toothpaste once I get my bag. It's annoying, but I'd rather be safe.

On the last flight, I forgot to take it out of my bag and it made it through. Good thing I didn't get caught, the man who checked me in on the previous flight made sure to remind me "NO toothpaste!".

I was on vacation when the new rules came into effect. I wondered about going home but I made sure to check everything that would be a no-no. I went to the airport 2 1/2 hours early and walked right through security. It actually took me longer to take my shoes off and put them back on than going through security. I checked my toothpaste and brush but didn't worry about it. I didn't have any problems. I guess I don't have a problem very oftem about food getting stuck so that helps.
