Molar bands touching

#1 Post by Smiley77 »

Argh! I HATE it!!! This is the worst thing about braces, give me ten canker sores anyday!

BOTH sides of molars bands are literally metal to metal, it feels like I have bitten into a fork. Does everyone just have to put up with it? I can't bite or chew with my front teeth, so everytime I eat I invariably end up smashing my bands together and YOW I hate it! LOL

Tell me it changes, that my ortho might change it, or that you all put up with it so to quit my whining!

So no one else has this?

I did ask and she said that it will move, but she (the assistant) didn't really let me finish my question and kinda cut me off. I don't want to ask again, but I really don't know if it will move or they just didn't push them down far enough.

I had this exact thing when I first got braced. I was sure they'd done something wrong...

I hate to tell you, but I did just have to wait it out. It took almost 4 months for those teeth to move to their right spot and the brackets have never smashed together since.

I also want to tell you that after about a month, it bothered me less and less. It was always a little annoying, but it wasn't awful any more. I managed to eat enough to gain 3 ugly pounds.

Good luck to you!! Try to be patient, though I know how hard it is when you're brackets are banging together, and it will all pass and soon it will be a distant memory.

Thank you so much Jennilee!

I am patient enough to wait, I just didn't want to sit like a dope and wait for it to move when they aren't going to! LOL

Well, that is a load off. One down, hopefully only three to go ;)

Thanks again!
