Strange sensation during adjustment

#1 Post by johnnya »

OK, got the god knows which adjustment in order today.. While my wire was being replaced, my teeth felt freedom for a while. Duirng this time it felt like they were swinging with my breath.. I know..sounds strange. I just wanted the wire back a.s.a.p

Has anyone else experianced this?
My ortho wants a post-extraction gap to close and that's why they move so much me thinks.

Got elastics #2 on my other side to fix the overbite..
Also, I'm into green tea lately.. and it shows on my teeth.....

*sigh*

They took my ligs and wire out at my last appointment and I was able to go brush and floss. I must say when I stood up out of that chair I almost reached out for support when I started to walk, they felt weird. I never had thought I wanted my wire back in cause what I'd give to be finished with these but I did need the support of my wire.
Cradled again.

Hi johnnya

Only day 4 with a brace for me so I can't comment on adjustments. However just thought I would share with you that green tea is good for your teeth http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/1344892.stm

johnnya: It is funny that you brought this up because my sister and I had the exact same experiences! In fact, for the first two months all my teeth felt really loose. I went to an amusement park this summer and while on the rollercoaster I was sure that some teeth were going to get knocked out so I put my hand over my mouth...lol! Here is the information I got from Archwired FAQ
I just got my braces recently and my teeth feel loose. Why? Is it OK?

The periodontal ligament, which helps to hold your teeth in place, is loosening up. Yes, this is perfectly normal, although it is very disconcerting. The teeth should stop feeling loose after a few weeks. If you're very concerned about it, or if the teeth feel loose for months on end, talk to your dentist about it.
Hope this helps!

Hm I have read that from so many people now here and really wonder if that is also the case when the treatment is done and the braces get removed. Is that feeling caused because the teeth are very loose or is it just a psychic effect because we are so used to the wire?? Is at the end of the treatment even still force on the wire which loosens the teeth too? I thought when reaching the final position the whole appliance calms down, waiting for getting removed, because everything is moved to the target position. Or am I totally wrong with this assumption ?

Joney:
id be very skeptic about this article, its one of those typical media messages, without long time study and anyway, even if true: Those tea stains you teeth slowly over the years and includes caffeine-like chemicals which are not so good for health and prevent you from sleeping well ;) (and it tastes only to some people well)

Swinging with your breath! That made me laugh but its actually not the first time i've read that. I read a site once where the girl said she felt as if she was driving with out a seat belt, like her teeth were not strapped in. I will experience that i guess soon enough.

Yep, when the wire came out last week for a few minutes, I couldn't resist running my tongue around the inside and did they feel loose or what. I was very happy for the wire to go back on!

Green tea also has many not so wonderful ingredients, not everyone drinks that, I also avoid that like coffee and other stuff for my whole live. Everything is good for you body in small amounts, the dose decides if something is good or bad in the end.

But jumping out the window isn't really consumable, not in form of food or drink at least, which was the topic related to tea ;)

Ok if you think I'm pedantic i proof that i real can be pedantic:

I actually consumed different deadly poisons different times in very small amounts, because i knew it wouldn't kill me, but generate hallucinations. So rat poison may have a non deadly dose range too =)

Cigarettes help preventing from getting Parkinson, they anyway are 1000 times worse than good. Same goes for Alcohol and many other drinks and foods. Just because something has a good effect on health, it should not be forgotten the other side, which may have bad effects too! (Cigarettes are the best example, cos noone would smoke for preventing Parkinson and risk cancer)
But this is totally moving off topic ;)

beans are vegetables
<Nitpick> Actually, beans are legumes. Technically though, cocoa is a fruit. I know, that seems to make no sense, but really, it is (actually, the seeds from the fruit).
