Turrrtlelove's Updates...pics...2006.12.12

#1 Post by turrrtlelove22 »

Yay!!! I got them!!! My appt. was at 9am this morning. I was a little late becuase of traffic...hehe. But it all worked out. I signed in payed my money and went to go sit down and like 2 seconds later they called me back and lucky me got the chair rigth next to the entrance!!!...I was like NOOOOO!!!...(in my head of course). I was so nervous becuase EVERYONE was walking by like staring at the first timer...lol

I has a friend with me so I was laughing and joking to kind of ease my nerves a little bit. The assistant was really nice she explained things while she was doing it. I'm sure yall know the process so I won't bore you with that...lol.

All my bands went on easily and they hurt a little while she was seating them and taking them off and stuff. Other than that it was fine. When she took the spacers off...man...I smelled the food that had gotten caught up in there...bleh!!!

When she was gluing the bands on the glue was icky and so was the etchant!!!! OHhhhhh man it tasted like a million lemons...so totally sour...LOL. It didn't take long at all to get all the brackets on at all. The assistant put them all on and the the orthodontist came by a tweaked things a little bit, told the assistant to use .016 Ni-Ti wires and to use tie-backs with a figure-8 configuration on certain teeth. I got this on the upper and lower and it goes from the molar band to my incisors. And on top of that she bent the end of the archwires...oh more pressure...so I think I'm strapped in here pretty tight...!!!...LOL

The two teeth that I knew would be iffy started aching slightly immediately after she put the tie-backs and ligatures on. I choose pink by the way...I chikined out on the green...LOL I thought it was funny when another assistant offered to help hold my lips back while she put the tiebacks on...LOL...it may not seem funny now that I think about it but at the time I got tickled...hehe She had the clear braces on her teeth. :D

While the ligatures where being put on she let me watch. I had no idea of just how small those things were....very interesting. When she put the wires on I felt the pressure immediately as well. I can't imagine the stronger ones to come...oh boy!!!...hehe

Uhm...I don't really know what else to write, I'm like in shock and overwhelmed and my mind isn't quite clear for some reason...it took me like 2 hours to write this...LOL...I think I'm delirous or something...I don't know...sheesh...all this excitement...

Well anywho...here are some pics...they arent very good tho...I'm so tired so I gave up trying...I'm sure yall will ask plenty of questions in case I left out something. Feel free to ask away!!!

They look GREAT! You've got a lot of space, but it's so cool to see the wire so straight at the beginning of treatment!

YOu've gotten tons of good advice on here and I can see that you are ready to go! All positive attitude and all. :jump:

Congratulations on getting your braces! :D I won't be getting mine until the new year. I hope it didn't/doesn't hurt too much! The baby pink ligs are amazing, by the way!

You better keep us updated on your progress!

First and formost I just got home from work so I'm playing catch up to reading what has happened here on the forums so far.

Turrrtlelove22, Congrats on your Brace Day, now that your officially a brace face you can start out having the fun in color changes that we have. You can have fun in talking about your treatment and you can also keep your journal updated every day with your treatment results and look back at it towards the end.

I Don't have much to say as I have to go and figure what is for dinner but I'm sure I will continue watching your case. So congrats again and talk to you next time.

I feel so, sooo.....uhmmm OFFICIAL...!!!. yea thas the word...LOL. I'm thinking I will be getting a powerchain to help close some of the gaps and to pull back my teeth in the front on top and bottom. Right now she is just using the tie-backs to keep my molars from tipping is what I think I recall her saying.

I'm so loving the pink, too. Thanks to all for comments... :D :D :D

Once again, I wish I had colors....I've noticed that since I got new wires last adjustment that the braces are more obvious...at least on the top becuase of the thicker wire...color would be nice.

You're finally braced turrrtlelove22. Congrats! Let me know how that pressure starts feeling. I'd take some OTC painkillers when you wake up tom morning cause your teeth will probably be a little "achey". Use LOTS of wax wherever you feel a sore coming on! Don't be afraid to use it!

Congrats, Turtlelove. Make sure to have OTC pain killers with you ALL THE TIME and drink lots and lots of water - I find that really helps.

The pink ligs look great - glad another newby was brave enough for colour!

Good Luck on your braces journey. Like you I have spaces and at two months I can see some of them closing already. So don't worry too much.

Good Luck again.
