How's this going to work?

#1 Post by Tamms »

OK, I'm confused (not really surprising). Anyway, as you might remember, I have a bite plate/Nance combo. The ortho explained that the bite plate part is to keep my teeth from touching so the bottom teeth "grow up". How is he going to get those teeth to grow up?

Secondly, the nance is supposed to hold the back teeth in place while he pulls the front teeth back. However, with the bite plate on there, it hits against the front teeth (and has actually already moved one tooth out more!) So, how can he pull them back with that bite plate on there?

This makes no sense to me now that I'm thinking about it. Seemed to make sense when the ortho was explaining but that was before the appliance was in! LOL. Anyone know how this really works?

Tammy :)
