Just a few questions (with pics!)

#1 Post by SuzyQ! »

I have been meaning to do this for ages but only just got my head round to figuring out how to do it! :D
Just a few questions if anyone can offer advice or any information. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I had a palate expander from April till July then pretty much a retainer to keep things in place until November when i got my upper ceramics (at last!) So i have had my upper ceramics for about a month now, got used to them fairly quickly! My main problem was my upper palate was very narrow and needed to be more like a U rather than a V (if that makes sense!)

These are pics first day with expander

1st day in fitted ceramics:

after 3 weeks in braces:

1) Do you think i have had good movement in the first 3 weeks, i went for an adjustment after 2 weeks and ortho didnt say much.
2) Do you know if there is anything i can do about my pointy fangs, ortho said something about pulling them down a bit and rounding them off? Not sure really what that means, any ideas?
3) The gums on some of my teeth seem to be worn away at the top showing a sort of pointy appearance, is there anything i can do about this?
4) My ortho has suggested getting a veneer on my little tooth (Next to my large tooth-soory dont know the names!) Would it be worth getting a veneer on either side of larger teeth? It might look odd just to get it on the one. (I do have quite small teeth generally i think!)

My ortho is nice but i feel like i am fussing when i am asking him so many questions! He also said i will only have the brace for between 6-9 months? Hope hes right! Anyone been in braces such a short time?

THANKS! :D

Thanks for the replies!
KK i thought it was receding gums, wonder why it is only on one side of my mouth though (my left) I think i also have alot of gum recession on my bottom teeth, how did i get this and how do i get rid of it/prevent it from geting worse? Is there anything they can do to even it out.

Yeah its my upper lateral for my veneer (my right)- think its called a peg lateral, basically a very small tooth. Anyone else got one of these? (it is very tiny! :? )

Although my teeth don't seem terribly crooked or anything i think that they aren't a great shape (tiny, pointy etc) so will they still look rubbish at the end? :(
Sorry to rant! :(

I will be getting either veneers or cosmetic bonding on my front top 6 after the orthodontics, but mine is for some decalcification, not for shape reasons.

Sorry Higgy, but what does decalcification mean?

Basically, a few of my teeth that weren't taken well care of when I was a kid and teen....the front of them has white spots....discoloration....where the calcium basically came off of the teeth...its not decay...but it is more of an aesthetic thing for me, so after the braces, they'll either cover them up with bonding or they'll do veneers...right now the verdict is out on that.
