Am I the oldest?

#1 Post by dolldx52 »

Yea!! Good to know there are other 'old foggies' like me in braces! I will be getting my braces off at age 52. Second time around for me- I never liked the way the first orthodontist shoved all my teeth way inside my mouth because he left me with big spaces to fill. This orthodontist will be bringing them back out so you can actually see them when I smile. Est. time this time around- 9 months. I figured I could handle just 9 months to feel better about my smile after all these years. Hope he's right! Will be glad to see new (and better) smile second time around! :D

Welcome, dolldx52,

I was braced on Dec 4th at the age of 50 and they should come off when I'm 52 or 53!!!

Glad to know that there are other "older and wiser" people here!

Howdy,
I can beat both of you! I got my braces in October, 2005 at age 53 and they will come off (hopefully) in April when I am age 54. I got my braces as a retirement present to myself.

P.S. I am definitely not "old" and definitely not a "fogey"!

ETA: I'm 54 right now

I know how you feel about having your teeth hidden by poor ortho work in the past. It one of the reasons I'm doing this again. I know when I started I felt I was the oldest person to do this. I'll be about 50 when these come off. As for your treatment time....9 months. Wow, sure beats me 16-24.

Mike
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.
But who's counting?

You'll be quitting work early then.

54 here, and I definitely do not regard myself as a 'fogey'. No way.

What?? You're more than 12 months in front of me, you have to be close to being finished. Seriously. But being a competitive sort, I'll take you on anyway.

I love the buffet tables, but they're so naughty, they make you come back again and again. My favourite is the breakfast buffet at the Raffles Plaza Hotel (next door to the old Raffles Hotel) in Singapore - you need a couple of hours to enjoy that one.

Meryaten, your mother sounds like a right piss taker.

Someone on this board said and I quote "the devil is in the details"> well, the final stages of treatment are really turning into the devil!

Listen up all you newbies! Getting the bite right can be a very trying time!! Anyone can straighten the teeth.

I've lost weight during treatment so I think I can indulge at the buffet. :D

That would be Meryaten.

I'd like to get in the race, but at my last adjustment I said, "take your time. Do whatever needs to be done. Let's just get it perfect."

Fifty two years of age here and expect to get my braces off in my 53rd or 54th year.

It's so nice to have company here. My fiance, a mere child of 49, just doesn't quite understand (he proposed to me the week before I got my braces on).

Some days I hate them, some days I forget I have them and once in a while I like them a little because they definitely make me look younger!

I was born March 18, 1958 and got braces last month! I hope I'm still 50 when I get my braces off! LOL! I'll have to wear my red hat to the dentist for the unveiling of my teeth, too!
