Tomorrow lunchtime I'll be having a new miniscrew implant put in to replace the one that was rejected.

Instead of in the palate like before, I will be having it put on the outside of my gum between my canine and the tooth behind (which is my 2nd bicuspid as I don't have my first ones anymore). My previous implant experience was not a very pleasant one and I've been dreading this for weeks. My orthodontist is doing it as he has now done the training. Last time I had to go to London for it. Hubby is coming with me for moral support.

I have a one hour appointment and if there's time I will also have my top brace put on. My ortho doesn't think the screw will take more than a few minutes to insert. I guess it depends on how many times hubby and my ortho have to pick me up off the floor (I almost passed out twice the first time I had them done  )

I'll let you know how it went tomorrow afternoon when I get back.

Good luck to you. Take comfort in knowing that at least you know what is going to happen and hopefully that will at least lessen some of the stress. I am sure things will go smoothly for you. Think positive and try not to stress too much.

Eat some gummy bears for me tonight. I forgot to do that before I got my braces :D .

Hi Lisa,

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. I have a mini screw implant in my palate and I have to say that it was very easy for me and I have never had any pain because of it.

Hope it goes as easy for you as it did for me. Let us know how it goes.

Take Care
Shawnie

Best of luck, Lisa !

I think this will be much easier than the first one. The palate is just ... a thin plate,
where they will put it now, there is much more bone. This will make the whole
procedure much much easier I think. And less chance that it will be rejected.
See it this way, it is only a MINIscrew. Much smaller than a screw they insert in
about the same area as part of an artificial tooth.

MAXI support from me to you !

I just got home and it really wasn't too bad. I got my top brace on too! The local hasn't completely worn off yet so I guess it might be throbbing later on, but at the moment I feel OK. I didn't feel faint at any point

Here's a pic showing my new top braces and the screw.

I'll post more in my blog later.

Thanks everyone for cheering me on :D
