So, my adjustment went fine. They didn't tighten anything, because the wire was apparently still active.
The bad part was the next appointment.
It's going to be 1-2 hours long, and they're going to reposition almost all of the brackets... By what they told me, this means taking them off, and bonding them again.

I'm so upset! I don't even understand why... It's going to be like getting braces all over again.

Has anyone ever had this done? Does it hurt just as badly as getting braces on for the first time?

Yup, I had this done a couple of weeks ago when 6 brackets were repositioned.

The metal brackets came off very easily, however the ceramics needed a bit more work and a few of them broke in the process. My teeth were a tad tender for a day or two afterwards, I think more as a result of having to bite down hard on some rubber gadget when they were removing the ceramics (this was to steady the tooth). After 48 hours, I was back to normal.

If you're in all metal, it should be a lot easier.

In my case, the brackets were repositioned so that I can move into the final phase of treatment. Not at all unhappy about this!

I'm unhappy about it because I've only had braces for a month... It kind of feels like a step backward, and also, it feels like I just had this done.

I'm getting mine done in 2 weeks as well - 8-month mark for me. I was sort of disappointed when they didn't change my wire at the last adjustment, but I think this means that we are moving into the next phase of treatment! Woohoo!

I have to say, I just had this done and I really saw it as a step forward! They reposition brackets when they have done what they were supposed to and need to do more tweaking. I think that it would be a good idea to try and see things in a positive light. You can either be upset about it, or happy about it. Why not go the happy route. I was excited to hear I would have some brackets repositioned. It doesn't feel any different, and I did have to go back down a wire, but it's all part of the process. Think about the big picture and realize it's just a means to an end. Good Luck and stay positive!!

I've had two adjustments so far, and both times REALLY hurt. I've read that adjustments are similar a dental check-up, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I have my third adjustment tomorrow, and I'm dreading it.
Does anyone else have a problem with adjustments? I wasn't in physical pain when I had my braces put on, just very uncomfortable.
