Powerchains?

#1 Post by SuzyQ! »

I had powerchains put on the other day, does this usually mean you are very close to the end of the treatment? Is it usually the last thing the ortho does?
He also did all kinds of what seemed to be like twists in between them, does anyone know what that is for?
Also I have ligs on some teeth but not others? Why will this be? To put certain pressure in different places?
Thanks for your help , i would have asked but i was late for appointment and didnt like to ask!

You can get powerchains at any stage of treatment, so it's not necessarily a sign that you're close to the end. I've had them on and off for the last 9 months, in various lengths, and to achieve various outcomes.

I don't know what the twists are.

If you don't have ligs on certain teeth, it may be because the brackets on those teeth are self-ligating; in other words, ligs are not required to hold the wire in place.
