Gaps on the move!

#1 Post by loulou123 »

Was just wondering if anyone else had, had this happen to them:

few months ago i noticed that a gap was appearing between my two lower front teeth, it grew bigger an d bigger, my ortho seemed quite surprised by its appearence and fitted a powerchain to the lower 4 teeth to pull tem back in. The gap has now closed up but has moved to the tooth at the end of the powerchain.

Know this is only a little thing but i have visions of the ortho chasing the gap all around my lower jaw, as i can imagine next time she will add an extra link to the powerchain and the gap will move on again!

Just wondered if anyone had any similar storys to set my mind at rest. :D

Very common occurence. No need to worry, the space will close. Your teeth are just following the natural laws of physics.

My upper two centals started developing a gap, so ortho put on a four link chain across the front four, so from lateral-central-central-lateral and now the gap has moved between my laterals and canines! I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a six link chain next time, and then the gap will be on the move again!

I had a gap developing on my top arch too, but (like Samantha_lou) I got a 4 link powerchain. The space moved to the end of my powerchain. That was before Christmas.....I still only have a 4 link chain. The ortho said the space is easily corrected and there are other things that take priority over it so it will be dealt with at a later date!

No worries....it is quite normal. My ortho was not surprised at all that I developed a gap. As a matter of fact, as soon as he changed to the wire to the higher gadge he said it would probably happen :) .
