I paid $5,000 for my treatment. That includes retainers and periodic retainer check-up appointments for ever.

It depends on what part of the country you are in, how fancy your ortho's office is, what "extras" they include with treatment....

How much are you paying?

just over £4000 UK money (about $8000) but treatment seems to be more expensive in the UK generally, and mine is costing quite a lot more than average because it's very complex :(

This has been discussed a gazillion times. Use the SEARCH capability or just go back through a few old posts. There have been a lot of discussions on: how old you were when you got braces, how long you will be in braces, how much did you pay for your braces, ...

ETA: Here's a sample. I did a search on "cost" and this is one of the topics that showed up:

I'm not sure how much it really costs because I'm a teenager and my parents are paying for it and it's really not my business to ask them about their budget and money matters and stuff.

However, I think it costs $5,000 without insurance. We have to pay about $3,000, I think. Our insurance is pretty decent.

paying 3800 Euro (Germany) for the full treatment, 3 years of fixed braces plus retainers and all. The bills I pay each month are so low, I dont know why it ever was a reason of money to not get braces for a fixed bite and a more beauty smile...

I'm paying $26,000 HKD, which would be about $3355 USD/£1857 depending where you're from.

I pretty much just bring a thousand or two (in HKD, that is) whenever I'm going in for an adjustment - they don't really care when and how much I pay as long as they receive the full amount by the time my treatment is over.

P.S. I've noticed that I'm paying a much cheaper price compared to people on this board! And I thought I was paying quite a lot already, especially since I'm getting ceramic brackets (which cost me $2000 HKD more)! Then again, my mom and my dentist have mutual friends so I probably got some kind of minor discount.. I know the general price is around $25,000 HKD though.
braced w/ ceramic brackets & wire ligs - 28th Nov, 06

I am a complex case, with my medical insurance, my out of pocket cost is $4300 USD. It would have been close to $8000 USD without insurance.

My total cost was $5032.00
Broken down:
* Records = $200.00
* Downpayment = $958.00
* Monthly payment = $191.60 (for 15 months)
* Additional payment = $1000.00 (we thought insurance would cover this part, but it turns out they wouldn't cover braces past age 18)

This is in a town in Texas that isn't all that big, but does have a university.

[Edit: I wish I had your insurance SDFD TSchott!]
