First adjustment -- OUCH!

#1 Post by dawnm »

I've been sailing along, doing really well with my braces... then I had my first adjustment yesterday!

It was pretty quick -- the assistant undid all my doors (I have damon's)... a few were midly tricky... the ortho came over and inspected, then the assistant reinserted the same bottom wire and put a thicker wire on the top. No problem!

I felt really good after the appointment... no pain, no discomfort.

Last night I started to get achy and I feel like I've been hit in the face with a baseball! Who knew a different wire could make so much difference? (Well, you all probably do!)

So I'm on soft foods today, but I'm optimistic that I'll be back to "normal" within a day or two. The discomfort really threw me for a loop because I haven't had any discomfort at all since day 3.

Oh well... at least now I know what to expect in 8 weeks at adjustment #2!
