Would you do it over again?

#1 Post by TLB in Minneapolis »

I am supposed to get braces Wednesday 5/2. I'm getting nervous but sort of excited too.

Anyways, my question is:

If you knew then what you know now, how many of you would do it all over again? Is it worth it?

I just need some last minute encouragment!

Thanks!

absolutely! I'm just over 8 months into treatment & even though it hurts sometimes, I see amazing changes already. It will be well worth it in the end.

Good luck!

My braces are coming off on May 3rd after 2-1/2 years of treatment. I would absolutely do it again and only wish I had been able to do it sooner. My smile won't be perfect, but my bite is so much better. It's been worth every pokey wire and every inch of shredded floss!

Good luck on your journey! You'll be glad you did it.

This is my second time doing this. It also will be the last. I am so much happier with this round or treatment than what I experienced in the late 70's. I'm early into my treatment at eight months but I've seen amazing changes with little pain. I expect to be in braces at least another 24 months. I'm also mentally preparing for at least single jaw surgery. My TMJ is better, although in the past two weeks it has reappeared.

KK is so right, attitude is everything. If you focus on this as something that you are doing for you instead of this as something being done to you, the experience will be so much more enjoyable. Frankly no one else will benefit from your having a prettier smile and a better bite as much, if at all, as you.

This can be a great experience or a terrible experience. That choice is yours.

Choose to make it great!

Mike
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.

No question that I would do it again. I am only 1/3-1/2 of the way through my treatment, but so far it has not been a big deal and the progress I see already is really encouraging.

I heard some horror stories about pain before I began, but so far none of that has materialized. The few, brief stretches of discomfort have been very minimal.

Best of luck!

Yes, I would. I don't know if this makes me weird, but I'm actually enjoying the experience.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. I am getting them tomorrow. I'm sure I will have lots of questions in the coming weeks.

Hi TLB!

I'm sooo glad to hear you are going through the braces! :D I'm only three weeks into the process, but I already know I will not regret it. This is something I've wanted to do for so long. I feel really blessed that I have the oportunity to have healthy, pretty teeth! :P Sure there maybe some bumps along the way, but let's try to enjoy the ride and look to the future! Please, please, please let us know how it goes tomorrow! :D I'll send you some positive energy!!!!!

I've only had my braces a few weeks, but yes, I would do it again. The only thing I would do differently is get them sooner!

I was told last summer that I really didn't have a choice about getting them anymore, and I still put it off for almost 9 months ... I could have been almost done by now!

I would do it again in a heartbeat. Apart from a bit of discomfort at first whilst getting used to them I've found it an easy experience. The amount of movement I've seen has been fantastic. Like others I wish I'd done this sooner.
