Metal Mouth Message Board

I was just inspecting my wires closely (I just got the Damons on yesterday) and see that I have these very tiny metal things that are attached to my wires. They are just in a few spots - two by my upper front teeth and one by my lower front teeth. Other than that I just have wire. Does anyone know what these tiny metal clip things are? I don't see my ortho for 10 weeks, and I don't want to bother him with this question; I'm hoping someone here might know.

does it kinda look like the metal is rubbed off or something? Is it dark color? If so, then they are there so the person putting your wires in knows that the wire is lined up even so it isn't in crooked or something.
