Post-Extraction Question

I had four premolars extracted yesterday. I was feeling pretty horrible yesterday but this morning I feel so much better. Anyway, I was looking at the gaps and I noticed some white bits, which I'm guessing are the roots of my extracted teeth. I thought the dentist was going to remove the tooth and the roots, but I guess not. Is this normal? Are my roots going to come out eventually? I really don't want to have to go back and get these darn things removed.

It might just be bits of tooth or bone. It should be normal. Whenever I had my wisdom teeth extracted (several years ago), that happened to me. If it really worries you, check with the dentist.

Hi, I had four extractions done a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure they always take out the roots as well. The dentist gave me my teeth after he'd taken them out and they had roots attached.

As for white stuff in the extraction sites, they're going to look pretty horrible for a few days. Still, I would call and ask. Never hurts!

Well, this morning one of the white bits fell out... and it's definitely not tooth or bone because it's very soft. I'm not too worried about it anymore since I'm sure eventually they will all fall out. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

sometimes, after an extraction, they pack the sockets with putty stuff or in my case, the holes were very small so they just put some gelfoam in it and put one stitch across each socket.
