Poking Archwire...

#1 Post by Thathrill »

Well I think my teeth are slowly moving as I've noticed an archwire is poking out in the back. I haven't had to use wax in weeks until today. Does anyone know how much of the wire needs to poke out before it could be snipped. The wax works fine but I can do without using it lol :)

Thanks Mery! I thought it would have to poking out quite far but I will give the ortho a call tomorrow.

The same thing happened to me a few days after my last adjustment. I went right in and they clipped the wire for me. Took 30 seconds if that.

They also encourage me to come in for any little discomfort from a wire poking, saying it only takes them a few minutes to get me in and out for things like that.

Thanks guys. I had it clipped this morning. it felt better immediately and it only took 10-15 seconds LOL. now i am just waiting for the tiny scratches to heal in my jaw. the tech was kinda surprised that the small amount was actually poking me lol. i might go back to see if i can get it filed down as i think there is still a tiny bit poking out but i'll wait and see

Even if there's not enough poking out, they may be able to use a handpiece to grind the wire flush with the back of the tube. I had this done once and it was INSTANT releif.
