Hi all.
I've been MIA lately -- busy with my kids' end-of-the-school-year events and activities.

I've been wired since April 5th. After about a week, I had to go back to the ortho because I broke the initial wire. I don't know how, but he said since it is a really, really flexible and thin wire, it happens all the time. Since then, I've been doing well and went back today, June 5th, for my first adjustment.

I am getting a little knocking of my right front tooth into the bottom bracket, but hopefully this new wire will straighten that out. I'm trying to be as careful as possible not to knock the bracket hard. After having a horrible palate expander for 6 months, I really don't want a bite plate, and my ortho is understanding. I must say, compared to that expander, braces are walk in the park.

I don't have pics from today, but I took some a couple days ago and just wanted to share my progress. I must say I'm very pleased considering it has only been 2 months!!!!!!

Here are a couple pics from April 5th when I got wired and my light blue ligs.

Here are pics taken a couple of days ago (Sunday) which is only 2 months since brace day. I'm very pleased and quite surprised with the progress. What do you think?

I have to say i'm not very knowledgable in these things yet, but you definitely have had progress! My god, that lower arch has straightened out beautifully, good on you! :D

Thanks, Breda. My lower arch was very crowded. It's nice to see everything moving into its place. My upper arch was not nearly as bad, but where the wire hiked up on the right side before, it is almost level now. Maybe the change is more noticeable to me because I stare at my teeth all the time. :)

Great progress! I've got bonding on my back teeth to prevent biting on the lowers, and I can tell you 100% that you don't want them!

I see Dr. Krishnan in Prince Frederick. I got a lot of good recommendations for him, and he's been handling my son's braces journey for several years.

Where is Dr. Hickory? Sorry your progress has slowed, JoviFan. I would not be surprised if mine goes that way too. I see such a change in a short time, I can't imagine my mouth can keep up this pace, but we'll see.

HOLY CHICKLETS, chicklets! Your bottom teeth have move quickly! How long are you supposed to be in braces? At that rate, you should just zoom through treatment! Congrats!

I don't have an exact end date. Originally I was told about a year total with the expander and braces. The expander took longer than expected and, as a result, I did not get braced as soon as expected, so maybe I'll be in metal for a year. I think maybe my ortho gave me a best-case estimate so that I'd go through with it -- heehee.

The way I feel right now, I really don't mind at all. After the initial shock of a mouth full of metal and some tooth sensitivity, I am really soooooooo glad I did this. As quickly as I have seen progress, it's exciting to me to think about the chicklets I'll have at the end. :D
