First Cleanng Since Jan

#1 Post by CanehdianGal »

This week I went back to my dentist for my first offical cleaning with braces. I thought he wouldn't do so much, just a scaling..I was wrong! 30-40 mins scraping, polishing, flossing. He told me " I can see your taking excellent care of your teeth because the gums are not inflamed when I'm doing the scraping/scaling"..My gums are beautiful he said to me. I said..Well hellooooooooooo....I waterpick 10 times a day, floss twice and brush sometimes 3x.

Before having braces when I would go for a cleaning the next day my teeth would be sore etc..Not this time. Seriously I am taking better care of my teeth now with braces.

I would like to suggest the best floss threader! It's been such a pleasure to floss.. I can't beleive I'm saying that. Anyway I have tried them all and this one..Crest Glide Threader Floss I highly reccommend.

Well done. That must be a nice feeling. Unfortunately for me my teeth do seem to stain more with the brace even though my oral hygiene has improved 10 fold. I love going to the hygienist as everything looks really white again, at least for a while.

how often do you go to the hygienist for a scale whilst you've got braces? my hygienest said once every 6 months should be enough but i was interested to know how often everyone else goes?

Thanks Meryaten and KK, i'll check at my next adjustment :) i'm just worried if i don't have them scaled and polished often enough when i've got braces, that i'll end up with marks on my teeth from the brackets.
