Hi, guys,
Yesterday was my 4th appointment and they decided to replace some brackets which seemed to be in wrong position, due to the crooked teeth i had when they were put on. So , i had to have 6 brackets poped off and replaced... God!!!! There was when the horror began.. i really thought they had any kind of liquid or light to weaken the glue and take the brackets off... i was wrong!!!!!!!! they just pop them offfffffff with some kind of pliers.... It was horrible!!! my brackets didn`t want to pop off, they were so hard glued on my teeth that i was praying to leave my appointment with all my teeth in my mouth.. one of them made so much noise when popped, that i thought my tooth chipped.. Luckily, my tooth was still there, but i was so terrified in that chair.
It was a horrible experience for me.

Hi AB, sorry to hear of your bad experience.
I guess when you're not ready for it, it's a bit of a shock.
I imagine going through that when it's your final appointment isn't as bad, as you know you're not getting them back on.
At least you know it was for the better good!

I also heard that soda and bad higene can weaken glue... well, now i know my higene and soda level was ok, as they were impossible to pop off!!!
I think i should dip my teeth in a can of fizzy and delicious soda for a day or two before my last appointment...lol

question for KK.^^
How do they remove glue?
I'm not exactly sure when but I think I'm almost near the end of my treatment and I want to be prepared for what's to come. thanks.

I had some ceramic braces repositioned and I remember that the noise that the "clipper" made was the really weird part for me. It was a really loud POP sound. I jumped in the chair for each of the 4 brackets that was replaced.

OK, definitely NOT looking forward to the brackets coming off (I haven't even gotten them ON yet!)...
Anyway, speaking of sodie pop, any rules about drinking it with braces? I'm kind of a Diet Coke-a-holic, so this may pose a problem!!
*sigh*

I had seven brackets, both ceramic and metal, repositioned at my June appointment . The assistant had me bite down hard on a piece of rolled cotton while they popped off each bracket. She said it is usually less painfull if you're biting down. I didn't feel any pain except for the pressure I was applying to the rolled cotton. Thankfully it was no big deal.

Thanks for all of your advice. But please don't worry about me - I was kind of joking with what I said earlier, in response to ABraces story. I'm sure you remember the anticipation prior to your braces coming on - you really don't know what to expect. Anyway, I think the entire spectrum of experiences is valuable to hear. Just as long as it's all balanced.
Well, hopefully next time ABraces will have a better experience. Sounds like neelie's assistant had a good plan for keeping the shock low.
Thanks again - love all the input on this message board!!
