Do Inspire Ice braces look OK on not so white teeth?

#1 Post by danz23 »

I am a bit confused, on the basic braces info page on this site it says the Ice brackets look best on white teeth. But surely if theyre clear they would suit any shade of teeth? On some other sites it makes them sound like this would be the case. Just doing research cause I may be getting braces way sooner than I thought so am wondering about clear vrs ceramic

My ceramics are clear and I have multi-colored teeth. I got a grill like indian corn  HAHaha but really, I don't think many people pay attention to notice regardless if I had clear or translucent. My ortho just happened to switch ceramic brands recently. They aren't Inspire ICE but if you look at my pictures, they look pretty darn close. I'm guessing my cousin and I are the pilot group because his assistant said they just got them and most of the patients have plain metal. I'm also glad that my cousin will be debonded first, so I can ask her how uncomfortable the process is versus when she had metal 4-5 years ago.

No, I'd never pick an ortho just cause he did nice brackets. We haven't really got to the stage where we've talked about the brand of braces haha he is so surprised at all the stuff I've learnt allready I dont want him to think I think I know everything! I just assume he does both cause he talks about sapphire braces and ceramics on his site and he's really in to the less visible ones. It was so weird last appointment it was like he's totally deciding whether to change the plan, like instead of another schwartz he thinks maybe braces soon yay cause the schwartz takes so long, maybe I could put up with a fixed expander instead.

I've got inspire ice on the bottom and they look fine. My teeth are also pretty stained.

The wire is more noticeable than the brackets.

my teeth aren't that white and i have clear insignia ice braces (also by ormco) that i love. i've found that it's not so much the brackets that make your teeth look brighter or more dull but the ligs/powerchains. my teeth look so much whiter if i have a white or clear powerchain.
here's a picture of my teeth with the brackets.
the powerchain is disgusting. i wanted something that didn't stain as badly and i got stuck with a platinum color that made my teeth look yellow.

Uppers and Lowers placed on 06/01/06 - Insignia Inspire ICE ceramics on top and stainless on bottom.

Hey rockexrolloh,
I've never heard of insignia before but they look real nice (so do your teeth, nice and straight and I reckon they look white!!), i'll have to go look up this brand. Wow theres so many different kinds, hopefully I get a good selection to choose from!

Wow, be interesting to hear what brackets he offers you.

Got an email from him today. Apparently he's never actually used the clear ones but has some in stock, would be happy to give me them if I want. Usually he uses self ligating Innovation C's. Ice brackets would cost $500 more than Innovation C. I really want coloured ligs but I dont know if I am willing to pay that much more just for colours! Being a poor uni student and everything! Are there any other benefits to getting Ice? Anyway, have plenty of time to decide coz found out I'm getting another appliance :( (sagittal this time) before braces.
Treatment by a Cosmetic Dentist:
1/3/07-22/11/07: removable appliances
22/11/07-10/2/09: Innovation C on uppers
8/1?/08-10/2/09: Innovation R on lowers
Ortho:
25/2/09-29/8/11: Clarity brackets
