Can you get fillings whilst in braces?

#1 Post by newmetal »

I think i need a couple on a couple of my back teeth...cavities that were there before but the dentist said they were not bad or big enough to bother with at the moment. I took a mirror to them today and the cavities are much bigger. Is it not possible to get fillings when in braces?

I had to have three old fillings replaced. Went to the ortho in the morning and had the top wire taken out. Went to the dentist and had the fillings replaced and returned to the ortho's office later that afternoon to have the wire put back on. You'll have to see what your dentist says about the cavities but your ortho should be able to work with you. Good luck.

I went in to have a cavity filled on a molar. He took one look and said to come back with the arch wire off. My molars are not banded but he needed the wire off to maneuver around.
Upper and lower 1st premolars extracted
Uppers braced 4/6/07 & Lowers braced 4/20/07
ceramic brackets and rectangular arch wires
Est. term: 30-36 months
De-banded: 3/04/09 w/ LBR and U&L Essix
